Specifications for

Manual Mill (Quantity: 2) at

Arnold Air Force Base, TN

Arnold Engineering Development Complex (AEDC)

Provide all materials, labor, and equipment necessary to provide two new fully functional Manual Milling

Machines. Refurbished or remanufactured parts are not authorized for this requirement.

Requirements

• Machining center construction o Ways shall be hardened and ground; preferably chrome dove tails and gibbs.

o Protective way covers for 3-Axis to protect ways and ball screws.

• Headstock Specification o Spindle speed 4,200 Rpm Maximum.

o Spindle drive motor 3HP minimum.

o Spindle taper R8 collet.

o Power feed for quill.

• Work Table o Table size 10” x 50” minimum.

o X Travel 30” minimum.

o Y Travel 10” minimum.

o Z Travel 14” minimum.

o Table equipped with standard “T” slots o Power feed X & Y Axis X, Y, & Z Axis o LED Lamp

• Controls o Digital readout for 2 axis such as Accu-Rite

• Accuracy o Repeatability for X, Y, & Z Axis shall be +/- .0003” o Positioning for X, Y, & Z Axis shall be +/- .0003”/12”

• General o Lubrication system.

o Kurt vise 6”

• Contractor shall provide:

o Machine shall be built to NFPA 70 and operate with AEDC power system which is 480V, 3PH, 60 HZ or quote package should include step down transformer to machine operation voltage.

o Vendor to provide $5,000 Tooling Voucher.

o Operating Manual, Electrical Manual, maintenance Manual, & Schematics.

o Machine shall include lifting, leveling, and floor attachment hardware.

• Verification

After delivery and installation, AEDC personnel will test run the machines at the site in accordance with functional tests for accuracy required by ISO/ANSI Standards.

• Warranty o The machines shall be warranted against any defects in material, parts, and workmanship for 24 months after the date of installation. The control, servomotors and main spindle motor are warranted against defects in material, parts, and workmanship for 24 months after the date of installation.

• Maintenance, Parts and Service o The Contractor shall have the capability to service the equipment (labor and parts) beyond the warranty period, or the equipment shall be able to be serviced by a local qualified representative.

The Contractor or representative shall be capable of responding to a repair service call on-site within 36 hours and repair parts delivery within 48 hours after placement of order.

• Packaging/Delivery o Provide all preservation, packaging, and packing to ensure safe delivery of the machines and related components to AEDC (FOB Arnold Air Force Base, TN 37389). Deliver machines to

AEDC for off-loading by AEDC personnel.

• Installation o Installation will be at the Arnold Air Force Base, TN; Arnold Engineering Development

Complex’s Model Shop, West Shop, Building 451. Installation of the machines shall be accomplished by Model Shop personnel. Installation kit is to be provided in machine cost.
