1.0 PROGRAM SCOPE
This SOW describes the Contractor work required to accomplish the Production and Deployment
(P&D) Acquisition Phase for the C-5M PIMA Program. This effort directly supports the overarching C-5M CMC/WxR Production Program and Products and provides support build-up and completion of aircraft modification kits and spares.
1.1 Background
The current C-5M CMC has reached maximum throughput capacity and the legacy WxR has imminent Diminishing Manufacturing Sources (DMS) issues.
The CMC/WxR modification upgrades the current Core Processing Module (CPM) cards within the aircraft’s CMC with new Honeywell CPM II cards and replaces the current AN/APS-133
WxR with the Commercial-Off-The-Shelf (COTS) Rockwell Collins WXR-2100 MultiScan
ThreatTrack™ Weather RADAR. The sole source award of the Engineering, Manufacturing, and Development (EMD) contract for the design and development of the CMC/WxR effort went to Lockheed Martin Aeronautics Company in March 2014 and two subsequent modification of
C-5M aircraft with this equipment included applicable aircraft Group A items. In January 2018, the EMD Program anticipates successfully completing the Operational Test and Evaluation (OT
&E) as entrance criteria for the P&D Acquisition Phase.
