This document is a set of questions and answers (Question Set #4) dated 21 July 2025 for the FA860425RB029 solicitation at Kirtland Air Force Base, specifically addressing technical specifications for various equipment components of a storage aid system. The questions and answers cover detailed modifications and clarifications for multiple equipment types, including turret trucks, order picker trucks, bin shelving, and vertical lift machine (VLM) trays. Key clarifications include: increased collapsed height for turret trucks to 144 inches, confirmation of 240-V building power supply, removal of specific fork tine width and thickness specifications, acceptance of an extended operator deck platform for order picker trucks, bin shelving installation requirements (60 compartments on 8" centers at 14' overall height), and confirmation of tray lip height at 5" +/- 1" with 75 individual storage locations per tray.

Kirtland, FA860425RB029 Question Set #4 21 July 2025

Appendix E: Turret Truck

1. Q. Required mast is 120" lowered height/forklift height 240" Our supplier only has turret trucks that are:

1. 118” lowered height/ forklift height 226”, code 5371, (with operator platform height 158”).

2. 130” lowered height/ forklift height 250, code 5372, (with operator platform height 182”)

Would either of these be acceptable? If so, which is preferred?

A: Appendix E has been updated with increased collapsed height to 144 inches. AF Drawing GKR40-01 has also been updated to increase the vehicle gate height to accommodate.

2. Q. Charger cannot be “on-board”. It will be a separate unit, which will require hard wiring to the building AC power supply. Please confirm the building AC power supply is 240-V. is 240-V.-Ph, 60-Hz.

A: Confirmed, the building has this power supply.

3. Q. Forks required are to be 36” long x 3.5” wide x 1.25” thick. Will proper capacity rated forks with different dimensions be acceptable (36” long x 4” wide x 1.75” thick)?

A: Appendix E has been updated to remove width and thickness specifications for fork tines. Length shall remain at 36”

App-F: Order picker truck

4. Q. The unit will operate in a 66” wide aisle. Our unit is 40” wide (which will have 26” gap 13” gap on each side, between the operator platform and the rack levels).

We recommend adding an operator deck/ platform extension of 59” wide, which will have7” gap/ 3.5” gap each side. Is this acceptable?

A: Yes this would be acceptable as long as it meets all other specifications.

5. Q. Charger cannot be “on-board”. It will be a separate unit, which will require hard wiring to the building AC power supply.

Please confirm the building AC power supply is 240-V. is 240-V.-Ph, 60-Hz.

A: Confirmed, the building has this power supply.

6. Q. Forks required are to be: 36” long x 3.5” wide x 1.25” thick.

Will proper capacity rated forks with different dimensions be acceptable (36” long x 4” wide x 1.75” thick)?

A: Appendix F has been updated to remove width and thickness specifications for fork tines. Length shall remain at 36”

Bin Shelving Appendix C.

7. Q. The requested height is 14' with individual storage bin sizes of 8" high. This configuration seems to not take the height of the shelf into consideration as they are usually between 1 and 1.5" high. Would the preference be keeping the 60 compartments at a lower height (approx. 7"-7.5") at 14' OAH or keeping 14' OAH with less compartments? Taller posts are also an option but would require splicing posts.

A: Shelf levels shall be installed on 8” centers from one another, the number of bins shall not be decreased, and the height of the units shall not be increased.

8. Q. Given the height of the bin shelving and requested shelf capacity of 400 pounds each, it is highly recommended that the top of the bin shelving be top tied to increase rigidity. This would result with strut/dunnage going across the entire width of all 6 sections of bin shelving (most likely 1 on each end and 1 down the middle).

Would this be acceptable?

A: Yes, this would be acceptable if it does not interfere with the loading/unloading of the shelving or other operations.

9. Q. Do you know what height they wanted?

Here is the Tray section from the solicitation.

• Trays o Tray dimensions: 96” W x 34” D o Tray lip 5 ± 1” H o Minimum capacity per tray: 1100 pounds o (44) trays per VLM o Trays visibly and legibly marked in sequential order starting with “1” o Dividers and partitions supplied in sufficient quantities to divide each tray into 75 individual storage locations. Exact configuration of each tray to be determined at time of installation.

A. 5” +/- 1” is the specified height
