Question Set #5

8 August 2024

Question/Answer Response:

Q: It appears engineer has handrail terminating in the middle of the 1st section of P3 rack on upper level. Is this what is intended? Should design be altered to use a shorter section in that 1st section?

A: Yes, that is what is intended.

Q: Please advise if engineer is wanting handrail on top / mezzanine side of section P4. It appears it will be fairly close to a wall. If so – will rack beams be acceptable?

A: handrail on the “top/mezzanine side of section P4” is not required. That area is as such to allow personnel access to the other mezzanine/platform. The current mezzanine allows a similar access between mezzanine sections using a step up/down ladder. The rack section P4 should be fairly close to the a wall as mentioned and the catwalk should cover the top of the P4 as shown on AF Drawing NCH801-02, SIDE VIEW P4 section.

Q/Statement: You have a request for certification of a minimum cabinet static load capacity of 24,000lbs.

A: Yes, that is correct.

Appendix C - Pallet Racking
