Description
3.2.1.2.
A 10-foot section of conveyor shall be fully loaded to 120 pounds per foot by the contractor. The load shall be left on the conveyor for a 24 hour period. The conveyor shall be inspected for any deformation with the load in place. If there are visible signs of deflection, the height to the lowest point of the conveyor shall be measured. The deflected height shall be divided by the installed height to determine if the deflection exceeds 0.38 percent of the unsupported length. After inspecting the conveyor with the load in place, the load shall be removed. Once again the conveyor shall be inspected for any visible signs of deformation.
If the conveyor deflected more than 0.38 percent of the unsupported length when loaded or exhibits permanent deformation it shall be considered unacceptable and fail the test.
3.2.1.2.
The conveyor shall have two tote pans/boxes placed upon it. One tote pan or box shall exhibit a load that exerts a force of 80 pounds per square foot. The tote pans/boxes shall be moved back and forth over the entire length of GRC two times. The tote pans/boxes shall freely move without jamming. The conveyor shall then be inspected for signs of deformation.
If the tote pans/boxes become obstructed or the conveyor exhibits signs of permanent deformation the conveyor shall be considered unacceptable and fail the test.
3.2.2.8.
The COTR shall select four tote pans. The Contractor shall load the tote pans with 120 pounds for an eight-hour period. At the end of the eight hours, the Contractor shall empty the tote pans. If any warping of the bottom of the tote pans or permanent deformation is exhibited, the system shall fail the test.
