About this file
This document is a Vendor Questions and Government Answers file for a Wavelength Dispersive X-Ray Fluorescence (WD-XRF) Instrument solicitation. The document addresses four key vendor inquiries: (1) the government is exclusively considering WD-XRF instruments, not Energy Dispersive XRF options; (2) the instrument's measurement range of 0.5 to 3,000/30,000 ppm will be used for testing products with a wide variety of concentrations; (3) the end user already possesses a valid XRF license and existing XRF systems; and (4) vendors are instructed to quote the most cost-effective system that meets all requirements in the Scope of Work, with past references including benchtop Supermini200 and larger Primus IVi models. The document is dated 17 June 2025 and is associated with solicitation number FA860125Q0113, indicating a specific procurement process for a scientific instrument by the Department of the Air Force Materiel Command.

FA860125Q0113 – WD XRF Instrument
Vendor Questions and Government Answers
1. Question: Are you exclusively considering Wavelength Dispersive XRF (WD-XRF) instruments, or would you also be open to Energy Dispersive XRF (ED-XRF) options?
Government Answer: We are exclusively considering WD-XRF instruments.
2. Question: The specified range of 0.5 to 3,000/30,000 ppm is quite broad. Do you anticipate that most measurements will fall within a narrower, more typical range?
Government Answer: No, a variety of products will be tested with this instrument with a wide variety of expected concentrations.
3. Question: 1. Can you confirm that the end user already has an XRF License for the state of Florida? Your office does have a valid XRF license, correct?
Government Answer: The end user already has an XRF license and XRF systems in use.
4. Question: In the past, the Aerospace Fuels Laboratory has ordered benchtop WDXRF systems, Supermini200 models. Is this what you need or a large system, such as the Primus IVi?
Government Answer: Vendors should quote the most cost effective system that meets all requirements of the Scope of Work.
