Below is a listing of 711th Human Performance Wing facilities that have non-standard mechanical systems present.
Building 248
- Aging Mechanical systems, some items dating back to 1950’s. Requiring frequent corrective maintenance items.
Building 837
– Requires daily management of HVAC control systems
- Predominately a wet laboratory facility. Contains 36 critical labs supported by 2 mechanical systems requiring strict control of temperature, humidity, and pressure relationships 24/7.
- 30 chemical Fume hoods/Bio hoods exhaust systems throughout facility connected to laboratory air handlers.
-RO water system with distribution to various laboratories.
-Laboratory VAV Water intrusion mitigation system with drain pans and condensation pumps.
Building 838
- Vivarium facility. Includes 35 chemical wet labs, supported by 8 mechanical systems/5 humidifiers which strictly maintain temperature controls, humidity controls, and pressure relationships 24/7, which will change depending on specimens present. Including strict periodic maintenance coordination, as well as, maintaining Vivarium driven certification documentation required by Vivarium for certifications.
- Low pressure steam system serving equipment throughout facility.
- 3 Fume, 2 bag-in/bag-out, and 2 chemical hood exhaust systems throughout facility.
- Multiple RO water system with distribution to each holding room, and humidification.
- HEPA filter maintenance required.
Building 840
- Wet labs throughout facility with chemical fume hood exhaust systems and laboratory air handler supply systems. ~220 Exhaust valves and ~130 Supply valves are to be maintained as well as supporting control systems. ~11 high plume laboratory exhaust fans must be maintained to ensure proper pressure is maintained in lab exhaust systems.
- Biosafety Level 3 laboratories. One located within building 840, and one in an adjacent modular building. HEPA filter, bag-in/bag-out system. Pressure must be maintained between rooms and corridors to ensure there is no escape of biological agents. These areas undergo CDC inspection requiring detailed maintenance records of all supporting equipment.
- Biosafety Level 2 laboratories. Epidemiology processing laboratories. Multiple walk-in coolers and freezers. Laboratory space must maintain strict temperature and humidity control for accurate processing. Detailed maintenance records must be maintained for CAPP accreditation.
- Eyewash stations and thermostatic mixing valves for maintaining proper tempered water throughout labs.
- Ultra Pure RODI water system serving laboratories throughout the building.
- Building wide water softening system.
- Three 3,235 MBTU natural gas water heaters for heating hot water loop.
- Clean steam generation boilers. Produces steam below 15 PSI for laboratory air handler supply humidification.
Building 850, 851, 852
- Centralized chilled water system that serves comfort cooling air handlers and multiple process chilled water loops for laboratory loads in all three buildings. Valves, pumps, and controls must be maintained to ensure correct pressures are available to each process chilled water loop.
- Water softening system serving all three buildings.
All facilities require strict adherence for hot and chilled water loop chemical treatment and testing, strainer cleaning and VAV preventive and corrective maintenance.
