QUESTIONS

1. QUESTION: Regarding the chairs. The SOW says: “It is required for the following chairs to be from the same manufacturer as the systems furniture or from a single seating manufacturer. CH-1 Mesh Back Upholstered Seat Task Chair CH-2 Perforated Back Upholstered Seat Light Task Chair, Fixed Arms CH-3 Perforated Back Upholstered Seat Guest Chair, Armless, on Casters CH-3A Perforated Back Breakroom Chair, Armless, on Glides CH-4 Perforated Back Upholstered Seat Chair, with Arms on Casters CH-5 Bar Height Stool with Sled Base, Perforated Back, Upholstered Seat, Armless CH-5A Bar Height Stool with Sled Base, Perforated Back, Non Upholstered Seat, Armless CH-5B Counter Height Stool with Sled Base, Perforated Back, Upholstered Seat, Armless CH-7 High Back Conference Room Chair CH-9 High Back Executive Chair.” Metal chair manufacturers don’t have wood chairs. Would it be acceptable to bid one seating manufacturer for the metal chairs and one seating manufacturer for the wood chairs?

ANSWER: There are very few manufactures that offer metal frame and wood framed seating. For that reason wood chairs for this buy were left out of this particular requirement. All of the chairs and stools listed in the Sow under this requirement metal framed. There are no wood framed chairs noted in this requirement. The requirement that’s being questioned has the option to bid metal seating not wood seating from the same manufacture as the systems furniture or from a single seating manufacture.

ANSWER: It depends on the requirement in the SOW. For instance the seating listed below Basis of Design is Knoll’s Generation, Multigeneration, and Remix series. Per the SOW “It is required for the following chairs to be from the same manufacturer as the systems furniture or from a single seating manufacturer.” For example you are a dealership other than Knoll i.e. Allsteel, Haworth, Herman Miller, Steelcase, Teknion or others then you can bid seating from that systems furniture manufacture OR you can bid seating from a single seating manufacture such as SitOnIt, 9 to 5, Nightingale, Neural Posture, or others.
