1. To remove and replace the rooftop AHU the contractors will be required to utilize an

Exceptionally large crane (200+ ton). Has the government identified permissible crane set-up locations that will not be affected by underground utilities and/or steam tunnels? Please

Advise.

Response – More information and government requirements will be issued as addendum 01.

2. Due to the impending expiration of this facility’s roof warranty we are being told by our roofing

Contractors that the roof removal/replacement as identified on the project drawings cannot be performed as noted. Either a comprehensive removal/replacement will be required or at a minimum a “wall-to-wall” replacement with expansion joints. Please Advise.

Response – Addendum 01 will contain additional requirements to address this issue.

3. Can the government provide me with the information for the manufacturer of the existing mechanical screen wall? Can the government provide me with the original construction drawing details from the original installation? Please Advise.

Response – No information is available regarding the existing screen wall.

4. Although only a portion of the existing mechanical screen wall is being reconfigured, is it expected that the entirety of the new and existing screen wall support steel will be painted/repainted?

The existing screen wall steel paint is in extremely poor condition. Please Advise.

Response – Addendum 01 will contain additional requirements regarding the screen wall.

5. The specs call for a 20 year roof warranty. In cut and patch situations like bldg. 20643 it will be very difficult to achieve without additional details showing connections to the existing roof. Will the designers please provide additional details showing connection or isolation joints etc.?

Response – Addendum 01 will be issued to address this issue.

6. Evaluation Factor 1 includes the construction or renovation of accessible restrooms. As there are no restrooms included in this project is this requirement necessary?

Response – Amendment 02 will address this issue.

7. What is the procedure for getting on the base to deliver the bid on 25 July 2013?

Response – Depending on your preferred method of delivery, there are options ensuring your bid will be delivered on time. One option is certified delivery through a mail carrier to the address provided in the solicitation in Block 7. Another option for timely delivery is a prearranged delivery with the point of contact provided in the solicitation in Block 7. Finally, those with base access may deliver the proposal to the address provided in Block 7 of the solicitation. If the point of contact is not available at the time of delivery, any member of the office is able to accept the proposal. An additional point of contact is James

Bane 937-522-4546 James.Bane@wpafb.af.mil. With these options, please be sure to provide adequate time to ensure on time delivery. It is the offerors responsibility to ensure the proposal is received prior to the due time and date specified in the solicitation.

8. Are you planning on new roof curbs or adapter curbs for this project. If adapter curbs do you have the old AH model# or serial #/

Response – There will be no new roof curbs. See drawing sheet AD104 (Note 4), A-104 (Note 3) and A-

104 (Detail 10).

9. Page E-103 it shows installing six (6) duct smokes in the space below the ceiling. I would assume that one duct detector goes in the supply and one duct detector goes in the return? Not sure all three units have enough cfm to require two duct smokes each?

Response – A new smoke detector is required for each supply and return duct. Also see drawing sheet M-

701.

10. The aluminum vanes on the rooftop enclosure screen appear to be a pre manufactured sheet metal, not broken on site as many of these types of sheet metal items are. Can you provide the manufacturer in order to save the cost of having this item custom made?

Response – No information is available regarding the existing screen wall.

11. The Specifications of products are proprietary in nature & would be considered an expensive repair.

12. They are not calling for wood blocking to picture frame repair.

13. The New Roofing assembly needs to be from wall to wall. If not your warranty would start & stop at tie in of new & old.
