About this file
This is a Questions and Answers (Q&A) document for solicitation FA857126Q3000, addressing clarifications on two cage structures required by the Air Force Sustainment Center at Robins AFB, Georgia.
For the Production Support Center (PSC) cage, the Q&A confirms specifications including 2" x 2" x 10-gauge mesh, 10-foot tall doors with padlock hasp locks, 48-inch deep wire decking with 2,500 pounds or higher beam-level capacity, a 4-foot swing door and 10-foot sliding door both positioned on the 105-foot face, and a 4-sided cage configuration (free-standing, not against walls). Wire decking depth is specified at 48 inches to accommodate the frame depth plus thickness. For the Pylon Wing Interface (PWI) cage, the Q&A confirms it is also 4-sided, does not require new uprights or beams (contractor already acquired existing components), requires 48-inch deep wire decking with no specified beam-level capacity, consists of two non-continuous rows requiring 18 uprights to create 8-foot wide sections, and uses teardrop punched uprights instead of slotted uprights. A critical clarification notes that contractors must supply all materials to be acceptable; the government will not provide pre-existing pallet racks. The document also references that drawings were previously posted to SAM.gov and that the Product Description was revised to reflect changes in wire decking acquisition for the PWI cage.

Q&A Responses
1. Can you confirm is mesh on the cage should be 2” x 2” x 10ga OR if it is DEA? Yes, Mesh 2” x 2 X 10ga
2. What is the height of the doors requested. 10’ X 10’
3. Are you needing a padlock hasp lock for the doors? Yes
PSC cage:
1. This shows 42” deep frames with 48” deep wire decking. Should the wire deck be 42”d, or are the frames actually 48”d? The wire decking is 48” because the distance between the frames is 42” and each frame is 3’ thick. 42” + 3” + 3” = 48”
2. There is no beam level capacity noted, but the wire decking capacity is listed at 2500 lbs. Are you looking for 2500 lbs beam level capacity? Beam level 2500 or higher
3. Will the 4’ swing door and the 10’ sliding door both be on the 105’ face of the cage? Yes
4. Is the cage 2,3, or 4 sided? In other words, is the cage in a corner of the room (2 sided), against a back wall (3 sided) or not against any wall (4 sided). 4 sided
PWI cage:
1. There is a requirement for wire decks, but no mention of uprights or beams needed. Do you have a counts and sizes for these? We already have the upright beams for this cage.
2. There is no beam level capacity noted, but the wire decking capacity is listed at 2500 lbs. Are you looking for 2500 lbs beam level capacity? N/A
3. Is the cage 2,3, or 4 sided? In other words, is the cage in a corner of the room (2 sided), against a back wall (3 sided) or not against any wall (4 sided). 4 sided
Assuming they are requesting a continuous run of racking, if there are (16) each 8’ wide sections, you would require 17 frames (uprights), not 18. 18 frames (uprights) would give you (17) each 8’ wide sections.
The run is not continuous it’s two row that why extra frames upright is needed.
Can you let us know which way to quote? Also, it mentions that the frames are 42” deep, but the wire decking is 48” deep. Let us know which depth the customer requires.
Wire decking 48 “ deep.
1. We do not provide the pallet racks; we only supply the pallet rack panels and doors that attach to the racks. Do you have a layout for this?
You have to supply everything in the order to be acceptable.
2. Could you please provide the layouts or drawings for the requested cages so that we can ensure our quote matches the exact requirements?
Drawings were already posted to SAM.gov.
1. Asking for slotted uprights – we manufacture a teardrop punched uprights. Will that work? Yes
2. The wire deck depth should be the same as the upright – I have attached a wire deck specification sheet if that would help. You are asking for wire decks that don't match the frame depth? Yes, I would like 48" deep rack frame with 48" deep wire deck
1. For CLIN 0002 (PWI Cage), the PD states wire decking is required for existing uprights and beams.
In order to quote accurately, can you please provide:
• Existing upright depth (in inches)
• Existing beam length (in inches)
• Beam inside step type/depth
• Number of beam levels requiring decking We have acquired the wire decking for the PWI cage.
NOTE: PD has been revised to show this change in section 1.1
