Base Flooring IDIQ Questions 3 Aug 2015

(Responses: 5 Aug 2015)

1. QUESTION: Item 0045 on the TEP Sheet call for Conductive Solid Vinyl Tile which according to all of my flooring reps is NOT made by any company. We can provide a Conductive Solid Rubber

Tile which meets all specifications. Plus it is a better product since it is made of rubber. Is this acceptable.

ANSWER: Item 0046 was removed from the list by previous revision.

2. QUESTION: The Basis of Design sheet 2.02 Flooring Design Basis has a listing for Solid Vinyl Tile—

Flexco Contract Vinyl Tile. I can’t find a section of the TEP sheet for this product. Is this correct?

ANSWER: The standard Solid Vinyl Tile will be removed from the SOW, 2.01. This item is not on the cost proposal. However, Section 09 65 00 (Paragraph 2.4) will not have the solid vinyl edited out since this item could be required as a non-prepriced line item within an individual task order.

3. QUESTION: There is a listing for the conductive solid Vinyl Tile…00045…. but there is no listing for the Solid Vinyl Tile

ANSWER: Standard Solid Vinyl Tile is not included in the pre-priced line item cost sheet

(references will be removed). The Static Dissipative Solid Vinyl Tile will remain (SOW, paragraph 2.01 will be edited to properly reflect the tile to be used). The design basis has changed since the tile will be vinyl, not vinyl composition tile, due to specification requirements and availability from different manufacturers.

5. QUESTION: Rubber treads….0057… calls for rubber treads to be install but it does not mention

ADA – Visually Impaired. I am bidding the tread with a standard tread and no ADA specifications

ANSWER: The SOW, paragraph 2.03 D. references Appendix C, Section 09 65 00 which fully specifies the treads. This section, Paragraph 2.6, states that they will “Conform to ASTM

F2169 … and have Group 2 strip for visually impaired of contrasting color.” Specification does require conformance with ADA.

6. QUESTION: Additional question has to do with the word ”recycling” being added to the

Demolition (Labor) section. It reads to “Remove and dispose/recycle……in each section.

This could be interpreted to either dispose….like we normally do with the carpet or recycle which is very much a different process but I am to give you a cost for both under one category.

Very confusing.

ANSWER: Unless stated otherwise within each individual task order, all materials (including carpet) will allow for the contractor to either dispose of or recycle materials based on cost. It is still the Govt’s preference to recycle whenever feasible. For this reason, the contractor will be required to issue for each task order a justification with the waste disposal plan for not recycling each individual material type (include all additional costs, i.e. nearest recycling plant, transportation costs, additional dumpster costs, fees, etc.) if recycling is not to be used. If recycling is to be required for a particular task order, it will be so stated within the requirements and will be a non-prepriced line item. This is a change from the previous SOW revision - verbiage will be provided in the second revision.
