Aircraft Hangar Deadbolt Locking System Question and Answers
Question:
1. 2.2.4 The Contractor shall fabricate a 6” x 6” x ¼” square steel tubing to be used for mounting deadbolt to hangar door(s).
The example picture appears to be 6" x 1 1/4" x 1/4" "C" Channel, Please clarify intent.
Answer:
Intent is to provide mounting for bolts that is standard across hangar door design. Nomenclature in 2.2.4 may not be best description as it was written in layman’s terms. The “C” channel description might be more accurate.
Question:
Does the government want 53 shear bolts or does this mean actual deadbolts (locking mechanisms)?
Answer:
These are repairs. We expect this many to be broken over the course of the first 6 months. The broken bolts will have to be repaired.
Question:
1. 2.2.1.4 Bldgs 225, 233, 237, 270 eight (8) hangar doors slide, each building has two (2) hangar doors that require deadbolt installation.
Does the "sliding hanger doors" have 2 opening doors? Are we to install locking system on one door or on both doors?
Answer:
Yes. Two sliding doors per building; 8 doors total. Only select doors within each building will need bolts.
Per PWS 1. Description of Services: “Installation services shall be coordinated with the Project Manager (PM)/Subject Matter Expert..”
Question:
1. 2.1.2 The bolt shall be frangible and fail when exposed to greater than 500-lbs external opening force, thereby allowing hangar door to open.
Please confirm that the word “bolt” is referring to the rivets as shown and circled on the attached image #2 from the solicitation. We cannot find an actual bolt that has a shear range of 500 lbs.
Answer:
The system has to give at 500 lbs. Ideally, this would be the mounting bolts rather than the dead bolt itself. This would allow reuse of the deadbolt.
