APPENDIX F - IRRIGATION SYSTEM BACKGROUND AND PROJECTED

MAINTENANCE WORKLOAD DATA

BACKGROUND: Many of the irrigation systems on Hill Air Force Base are aging and require frequent maintenance to keep them operational. The majority of systems are comprised of PVC and poly piping however there are some galvanized systems on the installation. Systems are equipped with standard irrigation heads such as rotating gear driven, Maxi-paw and pop-up sprayers. The majority of irrigated shrub and xeriscape areas are equipped with reduced pressure drip irrigation systems. Most systems are primarily controlled automatically through electrical and battery operated irrigation controllers. There are approximately 20 areas that require manual watering due damaged/missing control wiring or the inability to control through automatic means.
