USAFA LETTER OF EXCEPTION

PANTS, IMPROVED, PHYSICAL TRAINING UNIFORM

The following exceptions will apply when CRFD/PD 04-10 is used to manufacture running suit pants for the United States Air Force Academy cadets.

Paragraph 1 SCOPE. Replace the entire paragraph with the following paragraph.

This Purchase Description (PD) covers the requirements for the Physical Training Uniform (PTU) pants. The improved pants are intended for wear by U.S. Air Force Academy personnel (USAFA).

3.3.2: Screen printing. The lightning bolt design on the hip of the pants shall be printed with brilliant white light-retro-reflective plastisol ink. The point of the bolt shall be facing the front of the garment on each side. The ink shall be bonded to the fabric so that reflective quality remains for the normal life of the product. A 45 degree angle shall pass through the bottom two corners and the point of the lightning bolt. The lightning bolt shall fit in a rectangle 7.5 inches in width and 7 inches in height. The top width of the bolt shall be 3.75 inches. The positioning point shall be the top center of the logo block and it shall be horizontally centered on the leg panel hip and located between 1 and 1.5 inches from the bottom of the pocket.

Paragraph 3.5.3 Reflective Material. Delete this and all subparagraphs.

Paragraph 3.6 Labels. Replace the entire paragraph with the following paragraph.

A combination contractor identification and care shall be place label shall be placed in all garments. The label shall be cloth, cotton, permanent-coated, conforming to Type VI, classes 1, 2, 10, and 14 of Specification DDD-L-20. The label shall show the following information:

Applicable data to be inserted by the contractor when labels are printed.

Applicable data to be stamped in by contractor using permanent-type black ink after labels are printed.

Paragraph 3.6.1. Delete.

Paragraph 3.6.2. Replace the entire paragraph with the following paragraph.

A Code 39 bar code label shall also be affixed to the individual garment package. The Code 39 bar code shall be a removable paper ticket of commercial quality with the USAFA 10LRS/LGLC stock number and Code 39 bar code. The paper ticket shall contain a short item description to include size in plain text.

Figures and Graphics. Ignore all figures and graphics pertaining to the USAF running suit. The USAF Academy graphics in this letter shall replace the AF graphics
