About this file

This document is an Addendum to a Request for Information (RFI) for the F-35 Jet Blast Deflector (JBD) Improvements project at NAS Ft Worth JRB. The addendum changes the foundation requirements, allowing the contractor to use drilled cores with smaller amounts of concrete removal rather than full concrete removal along the north and east sides of the project. The RFI questions and responses address fabrication of the JBDs, existing concrete curb removal, and striping/security line requirements. The related federal contract opportunity is for the demolition of F-16 JBDs and construction of new F-35 JBDs, with a pre-proposal conference/site visit scheduled for July 30, 2024 and a deadline for Requests for Information (RFIs) or other questions of August 2, 2024.

RFI QUESTIONS AND RESPONSES

1. The listed recommended JBD manufacturer is Blast Deflectors, Inc., or the approved equal. Can the JBD be fabricated by another fabrication shop as long as it meets specification requirements?

a. The JBD’s can be fabricated by another shop. That shop or “manufacturer” will need to meet /perform all the requirements required in the specifications.

a. New Apron edge lines approx. 50 feet (connect 2 existing lines) Removal of approx. 1000 feet of existing apron edge lines Red security line and warning signs will need to be replaced if they are removed or damaged. This will depend on the contractor’s design for the construction. If all of the concrete was removed on the north side there would be approx. 750 feet of red security line, 10 warning signs, and 2 ECP markings.

4. For the warning sign, is it a restripe, or brand-new striping?

a. If a warning sign is removed it will need to be replaced. There are not any additional (new) signs required
