Solicitation Questions & Answers

Q1. Do any of the requested items have to be free of petroleum, grease, and other substances that require industrial cleaning?
A1. No. There are no industrial type cleaning requirements.
Q2. If we are subcontracting parts of the work, can the main contractor have Workman's Comp from a different state and the subcontractor have New York Workman's Comp?
A2. Both Prime-Contractor and Sub-Contractor would need to maintain Workman’s Comp.
Q3. What is the best way to schedule a site visit and is there a deadline to do so?
A3. There was no Site Visit arranged for this type of requirement.
Q4. How would you like the proposal to be submitted?
A4. The proposal submission instructions are found in the solicitation.
Q5. Is there a current incumbent and if so, what is the award amount?
A5. Incumbent contactor: Towne Dry Cleaners, Inc. Award Amount: $650,000.00
Q6. 1.1 says all items have to be pressed, but Appendix B doesn't list pressing as a method of finish for any of the listed items. Pressing is normally requested for clothing. Please advise if pressing is required.
A6. No, pressing is not required.
Q7. Is there any specific type of plastic required for the method of finish? Is laundry wrap film acceptable (similar to saran wrap)? Or is plastic bags the only acceptable option?
A7. It must be laundry wrap, plastic bags are not allowed, per lodging regulations.
Q8. It says we are required to provide three large and small laundry carts. Do you have the dimensions or capacity for the items requested?
A8. The large one is 48w x 25d x 59h (66h if you count the wheels) the small are 47w x 27d x 56.5h (64h if you count the wheels)
Q9. How much linen per item will need servicing weekly?
A9. The Bid Schedule attachment provides a quantity per year. Weekly amounts may vary.
Q10. Are the fiberglass laundry carts the property of the contractor or are they provided at the facility?
A10. The contractor is to provide 3 small and 3 large carts any additional carts needed will be provided by the base Lodging Facility.
Q11. Is the contractor expected to haul the fiberglass carts to and from their facility, and the contractor is to make sure the carts are maintained while in the contractor's custody?
A11. Yes, they must haul them to and from. Yes, they are responsible to maintain the carts in their custody and ensure they come back in the condition they go out in.
Q12. If the contractor is to provide the carts, can the carts be canvas or vinyl?
A12. The 3 smaller carts can be vinyl or canvas, the 3 larger carts should be fiberglass or heavy-duty plastic/resin.
