Replace 15KV Cutout Switches Base wide, FA6670-10-B-0001

Site Visit Questions & Answers from Site Visit on 8 & 13 April 2010

19 April 2010

Q. Is the U.F.P.O. underground utility markings to be by air base personnel or by the contractor?

A. It has always been the base policy to mark communications lines on base, as part of the dig permit. The dig permit also states that it is the contractor’s responsibility to call the 1-800 You

Dig number.

Q. Is all work to be performed (including shutdowns) during normal business hours, 7:00 am –

3:30 pm?

A. It is the intention to have all work done during normal business hour. If there becomes a special need to do something after hours, we can address this for safety of the project. If agreeable to all parties an addendum would be done to make that change possible.

Q. RE: SOW item #3 – can the existing glass insulators be re-used?

A. Yes the existing glass insulators may be reused once they are inspected to be sure that they are still serviceable.

Q. RE: SOW item #2 – are the cutouts to be mounted on 1 cross arm and the arrestors to be mounted on another cross arm, so as to match the existing upgraded installations?

A. It is the base’s preference to have double cross arms as current practice has been on the base.

Q. Is all the grounding on the poles to be upgraded?

A. The base would like to have all grounding upgraded during the project.

Q. Will the new sectionalizers require arc shields like the existing ones?

A. Yes

Q. RE: SOW item #4 – are 12’ guy insulators required on all guys – primary, secondary, telcom, etc.?

A. Yes the base would like 12’ insulators required on all guys on primary and secondary poles.

Poles with other functions do not have to have guys installed.
