About this file

The file is a Questions and Answers (Q&A) document for a Department of the Air Force Reserve Command solicitation (FA665625Q0015) for a Cat-6 infrastructure installation project. The Q&A document provides critical details about the project, including clarifications on information outlet (I/O) counts and cable installation requirements. Key details reveal that the project involves installing Cat-6 cables across two floors of Building 540, with a total of 234 information outlets and 468 individual CAT-6 cables. The building will remain minimally occupied during installation, and lines will be run behind drywall/insulation without requiring internal wall conduits.

The associated solicitation details indicate this is a 100% small business set-aside procurement with a $19M size standard under NAICS code 238210. The procurement will be evaluated on a lowest price, technically acceptable basis, with quotes requested for furnishing and installing Cat-6 ISP Infrastructure. The solicitation deadline for questions was 10:00 AM Eastern on Friday, September 5, 2025, with all inquiries to be submitted to Joseph Perry at the specified Air Force address or email.

Q. Can you estimate the number of information outlets (I/O) that require raceway?

A. Estimated number of information outlets that require raceway with dual CAT6 drops 44 (88 CAT 6 lines total)

Q. Our preliminary take-off of the 1st floor and 2nd floor drawing indicated the following (I/O) and individual CAT 6 cable count:

(a) 1st floor = 147 (I/O) and a total individual CAT 6 cable count of 294

(b) 2nd floor = 93 (I/O) and a total individual CAT 6 cable count of 186

(c) Total (I/O) 1st and 2nd floor = 240

(d) Total individual CAT 6 cable count = 480

Can you confirm the correct I/O and Cable count for the 1st and 2nd floor?

Reference: Attachment 1: Drop count worksheet A. Answer: 1st floor: 133 (I/O) and a total individual CAT 6 cable count 266, 2nd floor: 101 (I/O) and a total individual CAT 6 cable count 202, total building count: is 234 (I/O) and 468 individual CAT 6 cables.

Q. “At the existing I/O outlet locations, is ½″ or ¾″ conduit connected to a recessed single-gang metal or plastic outlet box, with the conduit extending at least 6″ above the wall support faceplate into the ceiling plenum area? If this type of construction is present at current I/O locations, does the Government require the same construction method to be used for all new I/O locations?”

A. Answer: There are no 1/2” or ¾” conduits extending above wall supports. Government does not require installation of internal wall conduits, lines will be ran behind drywall / insulation.

Q. Will Building 540 remain occupied and continue supporting operational mission functions during the Cat-6 cable installation project?”

A. A minimum number of personnel will be occupying B540 and will not be reliant on CAT6 for mission functions.
