Question:
1. Will the existing fire alarm conduit above ceiling be required to be removed or can it be abandoned in place?
Answer: The above ceiling conduit can remain, but all abandoned devices and wiring must be removed.
Question:
2. Please confirm that all demolished ceiling devices should be covered by a blank device plate or will the ceiling tile need to be replaced?
Answer: Confirmed. After award, we will discuss means and methods with the Contractor to see if there is a way to work around this issue by temporarily suspending the existing active devices while installing the new devices in the ceiling tile.
Question:
3. Please confirm that the existing transceiver should be incorporated into the new system and does not need to be replaced.
Answer: Confirmed, the existing transceiver is to be incorporated into the new system. Contractor will need to add a chip to make the transceiver compatible with the new Gamewell S3 system.
Question:
4. Please confirm that only the fire alarm system should be replaced and that the mass notification system is existing to remain. Spec section 283176, paragraph 1.3.1 states a new fire alarm and mass notification system.
Answer: Confirmed, the specification is generic and written for new construction. This project will reuse the existing MNS.
Question:
5. Spec section 283176 calls for the new fire alarm system to be connected to the base fiber optic network. Is the current fire alarm system connected to the base fiber optic network, or is this a new scope to be included in this project.
Answer: The Gamewell S3 system uses the Transceiver only. There is no fiber optic connection.
