About this file

This Request for Information report from a prime contractor to a government agency concerns a planned project to add a restroom and outside air to an inspection building. The contractor seeks clarification on the existing fire alarm system's ability to support additional devices and requests the specification and basis of design for insulated metal wall panels to match existing buildings, in response to notes on drawing FA-501. The agency response confirms the insulated wall panels by Star Building Systems as the basis of design and states that the RFI system is not authorization for additional work, directing the contractor to provide written notice to the contracting officer's representative for any considered changed conditions according to the contract.

The related federal contract opportunity solicitation FA6606-23-B-0001 from the Department of the Air Force Reserve Command is for adding a restroom and outside air to Inspection Bay Building 5305. The solicitation documents have been uploaded to the SAM.gov website, and the agency contact information is provided for any questions on accessing the documents.

Question:

Response:

Are we to assume that the existing fire alarm notification circuit in the building will allow for the added current draw of the new alarm devices.

Please provide a spec or product used for the existing metal panels on the building.

The specification refers to a single skin panel while the drawings indicate an insulated panel.

Please see the notes on sheet FA-501.

The basis of design for the metal panels to be used on this project are the insulated wall panels by Star Building Systems. Pattern and color to match existing as close as possible.
