About this file

This Request for Information report from the prime contractor concerns Solicitation FA6606-23-B-0001 issued by the Department of the Air Force Reserve Command. The prime contractor requests confirmation that copper conductors will be used to replace the existing 3/0 feed between the visitors building and inspection building with 300KCM cable. The contractor also requests the approximate footage needed for the new feed as the visitors building was not included in the site walkthrough. In addition, the contractor inquires about the protocol for performing the main feed replacement while keeping the buildings operational, as both buildings may need to be shut down during this portion of the work. The response provides confirmation that copper conductors will be used and refers the contractor to an attached drawing for the location of the electrical panel in the visitors building. It also states there will need to be a power shutdown during installation and recommends the contractor verify conduit and cable footage requirements on site.

Question: Drawing E-601 Note 2 is calling for the existing feed from the visitors building to the inspection building to be replaced with larger size conductors. Removing the existing 3/0 and replacing with 300KCM. I would like to confirm that we are using copper conductors and we need an approximate footage of wire needed as the visitors building was not part of the walk thru. Also, what will the protocol be for performing the main feed swap over as they want to keep the building functional during construction. It is possible that both buildings will need to be shut down during this portion of work, inspection building panel VDP1 located in visitors building is feeding panel TLRP in inspection building.

We are using copper conductors.

Please see the attached pdf drawing "B5310 - Visitor Center Electrical" to show the location of the electrical panel in the Visitor Center. There will need to be a shutdown of power during this installation. It is recommended that the Contractor return to the construction site to verify the distance for the installation of the new conduit and the footage of wire needed to complete this part of the job.
