About this file

This document contains a Request for Information report related to solicitation FA6606-22-B-0001 from the Department of the Air Force Reserve Command to maintain pavement markings at Yuma Proving Ground. The solicitation is available on Beta.sam.gov and requests information from the prime contractor, P&S Construction Inc, regarding friction testing specifications and documentation required for an upcoming site visit. The responses clarify that additional friction testing is not required for Runway 05/23 due to recent resurfacing, but may be needed for Runway 15/33 which is used less frequently. No documentation is required for the site visit.

Question 2:

Question 3:

It not as common to see single instances of Friction Testing in these RFPs. Due to the costs associated with one time testing, would it behoove the Authority to modify the specification to state that the tester being used is delivered to the Authority upon completion of testing for future use?

Response:

Response:

Maintain Pavement Markings

Is it assumed that the Friction Testing will follow typical standards with testing at 1' and 15' from centerline of the runway, in addition to the edge of runway (non-trafficked /non contaminated) areas specified?

Is there concerns of the existing runways Friction or is the testing to confirm no decrease in Friction upon completion of the pavement markings installation?

Question 4: What documents will be acceptable to access the base during the site visit?

Section A-3.3.3 of Appendix A outlines the location of friction testing.

Due to the recent resurfacing of Runway 05/23, less than a year, an additional friction test is not required.

The only concern is on Runway 15/33 as Runway 05/23 will have less than a years use upon execution of this contract. Now that 05/23 is once again the primary runway, 15/33 will be used infrequently.

Response: No documentation is needed, IAW Section L of the Solicitation (A) anyone wishing to attend the site visit is requested to notify the Contracting Office by 16 Feb 2022, COB. (Email stating how many individuals will attend is sufficient.)
