About this file

This is a Questions and Answers document for a federal procurement solicitation regarding the supply, delivery, installation, and removal of 144 sets of dormitory furniture at Building 1428.

The document addresses three clarification questions from prospective contractors regarding furniture specifications. Answer 16 specifies that 1M fireproof mattresses must have a height of 22 centimeters. Answer 17 clarifies that the under-bed storage requirement consists of a single 190W x 60D x 50H under-bed chest containing four drawers that all open on the same side of the bed, to be installed under a slat bed measuring 96W x 203L x 55H. Answer 18 directs contractors to ignore the dimensional discrepancy between the specified fireproof mattress size and the slat bed size, requiring contractors to provide a solution incorporating both the specified bed and mattress dimensions as stated in the solicitation.

QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS

Supply, Delivery, Installation, and Removal of 144 sets of Dormitory Furniture at Building 1428

Q 16: We really need to know the height of 1M fireproof mattresses. Is it 18/19/20 cm or a specific number?

A 16: The mattresses should have a height of 22 cm.

Q 17: Item a. (4 drawer under bed storage), 4 pieces of 190 W x 60 D x 50 H drawer: shall we consider one giant piece of rolling drawer with 4 storage boxes, which can only be accessed through one side of the bed? Or shall we consider 4 individual drawers, 2 on each side of the bed, with rolling casters, that can fit under the slat bed 96 W x 203 L x 55 H, and disregard the given dimensions of (190 W x 60 D x 50 H). I hope my question make sense.

Because 4 unites of 190 W x 60 D x 50 H each drawer cannot obviously fit under the slat bed 96 W x 203 L x 55 H. Please find below drawing from our technicians demonstrating 4 drawers in total (2 on each side of the bed) and confirm if that can work.

A 17: The requirement is for a 190Wx60Dx50H under-bed chest that has 4 drawers. The chest will fit under the bed, and all 4 drawers will open on the same side of the bed.

Q 18: The required size of fireproof mattress is slightly exceeding the size of the given slat bed. Shall we disregard that discrepancy? Or adjust the mattress size to the bed, or bed size to the mattress?

A 18: Please ignore the discrepancy and provide a solution with the specified bed and mattress sizes.
