RAF Fairford and RAF Welford Giant Voice Expansion Q&A

1. Please confirm specifications for below statement

5.2.2.2 Lightning Protection and/or Grounding. The Sub-contractor shall provide and install properly new lightning protection and/or grounding system for the RSSs. The Subcontractor shall ensure proper size of solid lightning rod kits, ground rod kits, and cable down conductors.

RAF Fairford: For the RSS #5 and RSS #6, the Sub-contractor shall provide and install new lighting protection and grounding system for the wooden poles. For the RSS #7, #8, and #9, the Sub-contractor shall leverage lightning protection and grounding system of the existing CCTV towers for grounding equipment.

RAF Welford: For the RSS #4, the Sub-contractor shall provide and install new lightning protection and grounding system for the Government-furnished Equipment (GFE) wooden pole.

Ans: The lightning protection and grounding should be in accordance with MIL-HDBK-419A Vol I & II. The following are typical specs used for GV pole.

2. Please confirm sizing/ specifications for the below statement or is this a kit available from the manufacturer

Secondary Solar Power for RSS. The Sub-contractor shall provide and install new solar

5.2.1.3 power panel including solar charge regulator for each RSS at RAF Fairford and Welford.

The Sub-contractor shall determine appropriate location and orientation for installation of the solar power panels on the wooden poles and CCTV towers. All exterior solar power cable runs shall be completely enclosed in conduits/PVCs with proper weatherhead and drip loop, and all solar power cable feed-thru holes shall be completely sealed

Ans: ATI typically uses 200W solar panel from third party. Can check with the Giant Voice vendor for proper type of solar panel that they use with their equipment.

3. Does any equipment specified require data rights for software use?

Ans: Yes. Central control station. ATI uses proprietary MassAlert software for the computer station to control, operate, activate, and monitor the system.

4. Are there any existing warranties in place, or contracts pertaining to the expansion of the equipment that need to be taken into consideration, or added to the contract?

Ans: NO there are no sustainment or warranty contracts in place.
