About this file
This document is Appendix D, a detailed Aircraft Wash Checklist for a C-130J aircraft, providing comprehensive instructions for preparing and washing the aircraft while protecting sensitive components. The checklist is divided into two primary sections: aircraft preparation and aircraft washing, with specific, granular steps for each phase.
The preparation phase involves protecting electronic equipment with barrier paper, installing protective covers on radar cooling fans, wheel bearings, and meticulously taping/covering multiple sensitive components including ECM sensors, static ports, oxygen vent tubes, brake components, and various electronic systems. The washing phase includes precise instructions for cleaning different aircraft sections (wheel wells, fuselage, wings, empennage) with strict guidelines on water pressure (maximum 500 PSI), water temperature (not above 120 degrees F), water volume (limited to 2 gallons/minute), and explicit prohibitions on using abrasive materials, spraying electrical components, and letting cleaning agents dry on surfaces. The checklist concludes with interior cleaning steps and a requirement to call the Contracting Officer's Representative (COR) to inspect the wash before removing protective coverings.
