Flightline Painting Project Questions

FA489720B0002

Page 1 of the SOW states the overrun chevrons are to be removed and repainted, when viewing the existing asphalt from satellite imagery; it appears to be in very poor condition and may not withstand hydro blasting. With this in mind, are the existing chevrons to be painted in their existing location and 100% of the paint would not have to be removed? If the chevrons are to be changed to the UFC-360-4 configuration then 100% of the paint would require removal and this could be very detrimental to the existing asphalt.

A: The chevrons will need to be removed and replace per UFC-360-4.

Is it correct, that NO deceptive edge markings are to be removed or repainted under this contract?

A: Correct.

Will drawings be provided as stated in the SOW page 2, item # 10?

A: The drawings were provided as amendment 1 to the package.

If the used water from the rubber and paint removal process is deemed non-hazardous from previous representative sampling (similar type work) and/or actual testing, how is it to be disposed?

A: An answer will be provided by 20 July, solicitation due date will be extended.

Is the government going to provide all new layout schemes (pavement marks) IAW UFC-360-4?

A: No. This is a design-build contract.

Are any taxiway center lines included in this contract?

A: No.

Are any Hold lines included in this contract?

A: No.

The drawings show shoulder lines (double yellow?) going down the complete length of the runway on both sides for removal and repaint. This is in addition to the 3’ wide white runway edge line. Are the double yellow lines currently existing on the runway and are they to be painted ?

A: The runway has yellow edge markings and white side stripes on either side of the runway. Both of these are currently on the runway and shall be replaced per UFC 3-260-04 (provided).

GENERAL REQUIREMENTS – Item 13. Please clarify if Burrowing Owl and ground nesting bird survey is or is not required. Last sentence of paragraph appears to contradict 1st sentence of paragraph.

A: A Burrowing Owl and ground nesting bird survey is not required.

Will the existing striping/layout plans be provided in AutoCADD Format to successful bidder? Or will topographic surveys be needed to establish existing conditions/pavement areas for design of new striping layout?

A: If requested, an existing striping/layout plan will be available in AutoCADD.

Will GIS Survey/data be required for this project?

A: Yes.
