Medical Waste Collection and Disposal Services
Amendment 3: RFQ Clarification
10 Aug 20
Q1. “After reviewing the information, it isn’t clear if they [355th Medical Group] are keeping these types of wastes separate. If they are not, then it would be required for all waste to be incinerated which is more expensive than autoclave waste. Can you confirm if they are being co-mingled? If not, how many of each containers are being picked up?”
A. At this time, we [355th Medical Group] are combining all medical waste together as we get it. The pharmaceuticals remain in their collection containers and are added to the barrels. Pathogens are placed in red bio-waste bags or sharps containers. These items are placed in the containers as well. No items (sharps or bags) are “emptied” into the barrels.
