About this file
This document is a set of Questions and Answers related to the 400Hz Frequency Converter requirement for the electrical load update at Building 679. The key details are:
The government has an existing 400Hz frequency converter installed and is looking to replace it. The new converter needs to be compatible with the existing electrical infrastructure and load. The government cannot provide building plans at this time, but the installation contractor will be required to conduct any necessary wire sizing calculations. There is no need for additional circuit breakers or electrical capacity, as the new converter will be replacing an existing unit. The government has provided relevant attachments, including the Statement of Work, floor plans, and solicitation details, for the contractor to develop their offer.

Additional 400Hz Frequency Converter Info
Question: Has the electrical load this new addition will add to load center been calculated and the extra capacity requirements involved be carried by electrical supply.
Answer: There has not been a calculation of the load that this will create as this is not a new asset, just a replacement of one that we already have in place.
Question: Are there spare buckets in load center I assume is in mechanical room 109? If there are spare buckets what are the specs? A new Breaker will have to be installed and set for conditions of use. Inrush current, overload protection etc. etc.
Answer: There should be no need for spare buckets, or a new circuit breaker install as it will hook up right where the current frequency converter already is.
Question: Are building structural plans available? So, conduit run from power source to end device can be planned.
Answer: We can’t provide a building plan now.
Question: Will installation contractor be required to conduct wire sizing calculations or will .gov have and electrical engineer perform wire/conduit/breaker type and size requirements for new load.
Answer: Installation contractor will be required to conduct any wire sizing calculations that are required.
