About this file
This document is a Questions and Answers (Q&A) form for Solicitation FA483025R0006, a Department of the Air Force Air Combat Command project for maintaining airfield and markings at Moody AFB. The project involves comprehensive runway and taxiway maintenance, specifically rubber removal and repainting, with key specifications including removing and repainting runway markings across approximately 240,000 square feet, disposing of industrial and solid waste, and completing the work in a single mobilization.
The Q&A document clarifies critical project details such as waste management (frac tanks and roll-off dumpsters may remain on-site), work access (potential weekend and night access with prior approval), and operational requirements. Notable clarifications include confirmation that no lead-based paint exists, environmental testing may be required, and the contractor is responsible for site preparation, barriers, and safety zones. The government will provide specific runway number changes and priority work schedules at the pre-construction meeting, with the expectation that key personnel like the Superintendent can potentially hold multiple roles.

| Please provide true estimated quantities for paint removals and repainting on which to base proposals. Assuming the sq ft estimates provided for Hot Pit, Txwy Lima, Txwy Hotel, Txwy Kilo are correct reflections of the scope, the map showing desired services ( specifically in blue )m on the inside runway, does not truly reflect actual sq ft by a long shot. |
Without specifics, the following is approximate sq feet in the blue areas on the inside runway:
Center Lines 7,920 White 2,640 Black
Edge Lines 26,856 White 8952 Black
Overrun Chevrons 12,000 Yellow ( We didn’t count the blacked out Chevrons )
* Also, if these are the true amounts of sq footage, is this to be removed as indicated before being replaced ?
Quantities provided as attachment to SOW are accurate. The blue shade on the map was only to illustrate the locations of the rubber removal, not the complete extents of rubber removal. We need 60’ by 2,000’ on both sides of inside runway giving a total of 240,000 SF. The overruns do not need new restriping and will not be part of the project. The Runway Numbers on BOTH runways will require removal and repainting. The new numbers will be provided.
