About this file
This is a Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) document dated February 14, 2025, regarding the installation of a new walk-in cooler/freezer unit at Moody AFB. The document contains detailed specifications and requirements gathered from two site visits (December 18, 2024, and February 11, 2025) for replacing an existing three-compartment unit with a new two-compartment configuration.
The project requires installation of a 11'W x 29'L x 7'7"H walk-in unit with 2/3 refrigerator (17'10" x 11'0") and 1/3 freezer (11'4" x 11'0") sections. Key requirements include: removal and reinstallation of sprinkler system (dry system for freezer, wet system for cooler) and satellite; electrical hookup (30 AMPS for both cooler and freezer); doors must swing from left side with windows; installation on existing concrete pad; and completion by April 30, 2025. The unit will be installed on the first floor with internal ramps, requires no permits unless digging is involved, and includes photos showing the current installation. The document includes detailed door specifications from Arctic Temp with component hardware requirements.

• We like to do site visits after contracts are signed, but we are happy to do a video call with you or someone else onsite; pls advise if this is possible.
- Unfortunately, the customer will not be able to hold a video call.
• The only question we had - we can do the removal of the existing equipment, but we would want to see a picture of what exactly needs to be removed. Can you provide tht?
- Pictures of the unit are attached for your review.
• For the sprinkler system, pls advise a preferred local GC onsite or the fire sprinkler company that did it for your existing location.
- The unit was installed with the initial construction, back in the 1950’s. The customer does not have that information available.
• The amendment calls for a sprinkler system to be included/installed with the walk-
in. The walk-in manufacturer will not make penetrations in the walk-in box for sprinkler heads. And the company that will be installing the walk-in does not handle sprinklers. So we would have to source a fire sprinkler service company near Moody to perform this service. Would you happen to have contact info for the company that currently services the sprinkler system at Moody?
o Do not have any contacts
• In regards to the sprinkler system. Do you want it installed before they take down the old freezer/ fridge or installed before or after the breakdown or after the new one is built?
o Should be installed during the installation of the new equipment.
