About this file
This is a Single Source Justification document for a simplified acquisition by the 319 Contracting Squadron for ASM Air Compressors. The 319 AMXS requires the procurement and installation of two air compressors to meet maintenance and breathing air needs at the Corrosion Control Facility. The requirement includes installation by a certified Atlas Copco technician, technician training, and removal and disposal of the current air compressor.
The justification for single source procurement from Atlas Copco is based on system compatibility and warranty considerations. The existing compressed air system utilizes Atlas Copco air dryers and filters, and integrating a new Atlas Copco compressor ensures system compatibility while preserving the existing warranty. Alternate compressor brands would void the current warranty, and while alternative suppliers offer standard one-year warranties, Atlas Copco provides an extended ten-year warranty that protects the government against unexpected repair costs and potential unit failure. Market research was conducted to verify alternative sources; three small businesses were contacted but confirmed limited availability of alternative compressors meeting the customer specifications without voiding the current warranty. The resulting solicitation will be accessible to all vendors registered on SAM.gov. The contracting officer, James A. Meyers (TSgt), determined on January 16, 2026, that only a single source is reasonably available in accordance with FAR 13.106-1(b)(1). Future market research will assess whether new compatible items or competitive alternatives become available to preclude future single source awards.
