About this file
This document is a Questions and Answers file for a Department of the Air Force Global Strike Command solicitation (FA462625Q0061) for a Stationary Weapons Rack. The Q&A provides critical technical details about the weapons storage system, including specific requirements for weapon storage, dimensions, and installation parameters. Key specifications include capacity for 120 M4 rifles, 30 M16 rifles, 90 M18 pistols, and up to 30 spare barrels, with vertical storage orientation to enable serial number visibility.
The document outlines installation constraints such as working hours (Monday-Friday, 6:00 am to 4:00 pm MST), fire suppression system proximity (racks cannot exceed 18 inches from threshold), and installation flexibility. Notable requirements include carriages no longer than 80 inches, adjustable barrel saddles to accommodate military-spec weapons, and potential false flooring with OSHA-compliant transitions. The solicitation allows bidders who did not attend the site visit to submit quotes, with the primary evaluation focus on meeting space dimensions and maximizing weapon storage capacity.

Updated 14 August 2025
· Q: What are the room dimensions?
· A: Please see below room dimensions below as well as SOW for specifics:
1. Q: How many spare barrels are required for storage?
a. A: In accordance with the room dimensions, 13.5 cubic feet is needed for storing barrels as well as space for at least 80 pistols. The vendor must also accommodate extra space to account for the potential of growing inventory.
2. Q: How long are the carriages
a. The carriages must be no more than 80 inches.
3. Q: Can we have photos of the space?
a. This is a controlled area, so no photos may be taken. Please refer to the SOW for dimensions and references to lengths.
4. Q: Will rifles be stored with the buttstock down and the barrel up?
a. Yes, as to make the serial numbers visible. Vertical storage for ease of inventory.
5. Q: More information on the spare barrel storage?
a. Refer to SOW dimensions. Currently there are 7 barrels stored, and the inventory has stored at most 20.
6. Q: What requirements will be allotted if a false floor is needed?
a. As long as all dimensions in accordance with the SOW are met, there will be no requirements or exclusions of the false floor. If a false is installed the floor transition shall meet OSHA standards and not impede on door entrance.
7. Q: Where the ADA compliance standards removed?
a. Yes, there was no governing doctrine requiring railing or the system to be ADA compliant.

a. Yes.

a. It varies up to 30 possibly.
11. Q: The SOW does not note how the weapons are to be stored?
a. See Question 4
12. Q: Does the unit require weapon holders to secure the front and back of each rifle buttstock? This prevents side to side movement of the weapon as it is stored and creates an angle, so the weapon is angled to the rear of the cabinets.
a. This sounds specific to company design.
13. Q: Does the armory want rifles stored turned 90 degrees front to back or inverted (upside down)?
a. No
14. Q: Does the end user require individually adjustable barrel saddles to account for varying weapon heights throughout the system? As there are different weapon systems the barrel saddles will have different height settings for each weapon.
a. Must to be able to store Military spec M4 Qty 120, and M16A2 of 30 ea.
15. Q: Do the barrel saddles require a retainer cord so the weapons cannot come out of the barrel saddle on their own?
a. No this is not required.
16. Q: A partially slotted back panel requires the end user to purchase additional support rails or disassemble their existing support rails to relocate within the rack when they need to adjust the height settings. Does the end user require a fully slotted back panel inside of the weapon rack to allow for ease of interchangeable and reconfigurable components?
a. No this is not required.
17. Q: Are any adjustable storage shelves required inside of the weapon racks for ancillary storage such as detached NVGs or other sensitive serialized items?
a. Adjustable shelving for barrel storage.
18. Q: Does the unit want finished steel end panels to conceal the gear box covers of the carriage system?
a. As long as all specific needs of the SOW are met, this is acceptable.
19. Q: What are the working hours for disassembly and installation?
a. Monday through Friday, 6:00 am to 4:00 pm MST, excluding federal holidays. Lunch is from 11:30 pm to 12:30 pm MST.
20. PLEASE NOTE: In accordance with the Base Fire Department, the racks must not exceed 18 inches from the threshold of the fire suppression system.
21. PLEASE NOTE: All questions pertaining to rails, false flooring and ADA compliant systems: The most important aspect is to be able to fit within the dimensions of the space and contain the greatest number of weapons possible for current inventory, as well as accounting for growing inventory. See solicitation for technical evaluation factors. All complete and technically acceptable offers will be evaluated.
