Question 1: Detail 1/A3.2 - What gauge steel studs and track are required for framing the soffit?
Answer 1: 22 Gage minimum Question 2: Detail 1/A3.2 - In regards to the diagonal brace in the soffit, is custom made track really required at top and bottom of the brace? What would the top brace track attach to? Can we attach to every other fascia framing stud at the bottom and insert a stud between the building girts to attachment at the top?
Answer 2: Custom track not required. Attach to every other fascia framing stud at bottom and insert a stud between the building girts too for attachment at top is a good solution per contractor suggestion.
Question 3: Detail 1/A3.2 - What kind of rigid insulation do you want?
Answer 3: Polyisocyanurate
Question 4: Detail 3/A3.3 - Detail shows CDX ply in contact with concrete. Please advise if this is acceptable.
Answer: 4 While commonly done with CDX, the question is valid. The best long-term durability would be to change the 1/2" CDX plywood to 1/2" Pressure Treated plywood. This would give greater resistance to any moisture wicked from the concrete to the bottom surface of the plywood. Contractor will utilize 1/2” Pressure Treated plywood at these locations.
