Questions and Answers
1. Are "to scale drawings " available? Yes
2. Are the ceilings suspended or hard lid? Both
3. What is the existing alarm system,i.e. name and model number.

4. Is plenum cable acceptable?
All wiring shall be class “A” or “X” circuits per NFPA 72, and installed in conduit per NFPA 70 (NEC). Circuits shall be installed such that the outgoing and return conductors, exiting from and returning to the control unit, respectively, are routed separately.
The main fire alarm control panel shall have a dedicated circuit breaker. Fire alarm control panel circuit breakers shall be labeled and properly identified by the color “red”.
All conduit, junction/back boxes, covers and couplings, when provided, are permitted to be painted to match the room finishing in finished areas. The inside cover of the junction box must be identified as “Fire Alarm” and the conduit must have painted red bands 3/4-
in. (20 mm) wide at 20 ft. (6 m) intervals and on both sides of all floor, wall, and ceiling penetrations.
All conduit, junction/back boxes, covers and couplings, when provided, must be factory painted red in unfinished areas (e.g., above ceilings, mechanical rooms, etc.).
All wiring shall be color-coded. Bell System circuit: Red for positive, black for negative, blue for shielded cable. Initiating devices shall be: Blue for positive, white for negative, and red for shielded cable. All wire types and sizes shall be that as required by the system manufacturer. Fire alarm circuit identification shall be accomplished in accordance with NFPA 70. Signaling line and speaker circuits shall utilize twisted shielded cable.

5. What is the Name/Make/Model # of the original boxes being replaced?

6. Do the Pull stations alarms have to be lowered?
No they will stay in same positon.
7. Period of Performance will be part of your proposal.
8. Is the current fire alarm panel powered down? (from the pictures included the battery connection wiring was de-terminated which is typically a sign of a powered off system)
YES
9. If the system has been powered down can we utilize the existing wiring and conduit locations?
Yes, the existing wire can be used
10. Can we suggest using an alternative fire alarm panel not listed, but yet has local factory support / manufacturing as long as technical training is provided.
No only the preffered units are Siemens, Notifier, Simplex, or Fire-lite
11. Does the contractor provide the electrical work to the panels or will that be provided?
The contractor provides the electrical work to the panels.
12. Is the current fire alarm system wired as Class A?
Yes the current fire alarm system is wired as Class A.
13. Are there any known problems with the mass notification system?
No there are no known problems with the current mass notification system.
