About this file
This is a Statement of Need for on-site nitrogen equipment procurement at McConnell Air Force Base, Kansas, dated 17 August 2026.
The 22d Maintenance Group (MXG) requires updated nitrogen generation equipment to support mission requirements, specifically to address insufficient nitrogen production capacity that is currently straining availability during high wheel assembly production. The procurement requires an air compressor with sufficient horsepower to meet system flow requirements and a minimum 200-gallon air tank; an N2 generator capable of producing a minimum 30 CFM at equal to or greater than 95.5% purity with a minimum 200-gallon N2 tank; and a system capable of delivering a minimum 300 psi output pressure. The equipment must be compatible with facility power specifications of 230V, 3-Phase, 60Hz operation, with panel maximum capacity of 225 Amps. Physical constraints require that all equipment fit through a doorway measuring 83 inches in height by 98 inches in width. The contractor must provide a minimum six-month warranty from the date of delivery covering defects in materials, workmanship, and malfunctions or failures due to manufacturing errors. Delivery must be completed within 6 months after the date of contract award.

Statement of Need
On Site Nitrogen Equipment
McConnell AFB, Kansas
1. Overview
1.1 The 22d MXG requires updated nitrogen equipment to accommodate mission needs. Current equipment for on-site nitrogen buildup does not produce enough Nitrogen. Though substituted by AGE, this has begun to put a strain on availability in high wheel assembly production and can cause random time deviation.
2. Requirements
2.1 Air Compressor: Sufficient Horsepower to meet system flow requirements, 200-gallon Air tank minimum.
2.2 N2 Generator: 30 CFM minimum at equal to or greater than 95.5% purity. 200-gallon N2 Tank minimum.
2.3 Output Pressure: 300 psi minimum output.
2.4 Electrical Availability: System must be compatible with facility power: 230V / 3-Phase / 60Hz (Note:
Panel maximum capacity is 225 Amps).
2.5 Maximum Doorway Clearance: Equipment must fit through a doorway measuring 83 inches in Height by 98 inches in Width.
3. Warranty
3.1 The contractor shall provide a minimum of six months from the date of delivery covering defects in materials and workmanship, and malfunctions or failures due to manufacturing errors.
4. Delivery
4.1 The contractor shall complete delivery within 6 months after date of contract.
