About this file
This is Amendment 02 to a federal solicitation for hangar door repair services at Barksdale Air Force Base, Louisiana, issued by the 2D Contracting Squadron on January 23, 2026.
The amendment extends the proposal due date from January 27, 2026 at 4:00 PM CST to January 30, 2026 at 4:00 PM CST for solicitation FA460826QS005. The primary scope of work involves repairing five hangar doors, with the bulk of effort focused on Door #2, which exhibits binding and damage from overwinding past safety limits. For Door #2, the contractor must perform full fabric replacement (inside and outside), install new lifting straps, replace damaged guide rails, rebuild and calibrate the bottom fixture, and set limits and light calibration. The remaining four doors require assessment and servicing to ensure the complete system operates correctly in accordance with manufacturer design, which may include sensor and limit adjustments. The contractor is responsible for ordering and supplying all necessary parts through the door manufacturer or regional representatives; BAFB will provide a manufacturer representative point of contact if requested. An 80-foot Genie Boom Lift is available for use on-site. Technical specifications and door measurements are provided in referenced drawings A2-38173, A2-38174, and drawings 83446-01-01E through 83446-01-117E. Questions regarding the amendment should be directed to Contracting Officer Thomas Hutchins at thomas.hutchins.2@us.af.mil or (318) 456-3729.

DEPARTMENT OF THE AIR FORCE
2D CONTRACTING SQUADRON
BARKSDALE AIR FORCE BASE LOUISIANA
23 January 2026
MEMORANDUM FOR CONTRACTORS
FROM: 2CONS/PKA
801 Kenney Ave, Suite 2300 Barksdale AFB, LA 71110
SUBJECT: Amendment 02, FA460826QS005, Hangar Door Repair
1. The purpose of this Amendment is to:
a. Provide supplemental information in the form of a Question and Answers document.
b. Extend the due date and time for this solicitation from Tuesday, 27 January 2026
4:00PM CST to Friday, 30 January 2026 4:00PM CST.
2. The following questions were submitted to 2 CONS:
Question 1: Is lift equipment for the service/repairs furnished by BAFB?
Answer 1: An 80’ Genie Boom Lift is available for use on this project.
Question 2: Description of the problem being experienced with Hangar Door #2?
Answer 2: Hangar door #2 shows signs of binding/damage in the current fully open position. The extent of any damage is unknown until an attempt to close the door is accomplished, and due to the risk of the door being rendered unusable in the closed position rendering the facility out of commission, why it is not a current option.
Question 3: As much detail as possible regarding the current operation of this door will be extremely helpful. For example, is it related the door curtain operation, track problems, or motor operation or malfunction?
Answer 3: As stated in question #2, the extent of damage is unknown, but visually there are signs of torn fabric and distortion in metal components indicating the door overwound past safety limits. The failsafe approach would be to lower the door to accomplish a full assessment at the start of the project with the assumption all door components are required to be replaced.
Question 4: If parts are needed, will they be ordered and supplied by BAFB?
Answer 4: Parts need to be ordered by the contractor performing the work through the door manufacturer or regional representatives. BAFB can provide a point of contact for the manufacturer representative if requested.
Question 5: If they are being supplied by BAFB you are requesting a list of parts needed, and labor only quote to replace them?
Answer 5: N/A
Question 6: Are all remaining 4 doors functioning properly?
Answer 6: The other 4-doors are operational, but need to be assessed to ensure the complete system is operating correctly.
Question 7: Are we to service the other 4 doors as well?
Answer 7: Yes, to ensure the entire system is working correctly as designed. This requirement may also require adjustments to sensors or limits to achieve the desired outcome to have the complete door system operate IAW design.
Question 8: Measurements of each door (Width x Height).
Answer 8: This information is on the drawings provided: refer to drawings A2-38173 and A2-38174
Question 9: Megadoor Model Number and Motor Model Number & confirm Electrical Phase (1 Phase or 3 Phase)
Answer 9: This information is on the drawings provided: refer to drawings 83446-01- 01E through 83446-01-117E.
Question 10: “It is my understanding is that the scope of the project consists of setting limits and light calibration of all five doors with the bulk of the work required on door number two, where the door was binding on the guides. This door (2) will have a repair scope of full fabric replacement inside and outside, new lifting straps, guide rail replacement (damaged only), bottom fixture rebuild and calibration of limits.”
Answer 10: The synopsis laid out in questions 10 is correct, with a the caveat that following #2 door repairs the intent is to have the full system operational in accordance with manufacturers design.
3. It is the responsibility of the Offeror to read all accompanying attachments of the solicitation and solicitation Amendment(s) for FA460826QS005.
4. The solicitation due date and time has been extended to 4:00PM CST, Friday 30 January 2026 for solicitation FA460826QS005.
