About this file
This document is Amendment 01 for Solicitation FA460825QC113, a Request for Quotation (RFQ) for a Mobile Shelving Unit issued by the Department of the Air Force's 2D Contracting Squadron at Barksdale Air Force Base. The amendment provides a detailed Questions and Answers document addressing 23 vendor inquiries about the mobile shelving system specifications, including shelf configurations, drawer requirements, carriage dimensions, and installation details. Key specifications include six to seven movable carriages with full 36" single shelves, 18-24" deep drawers on the stationary shelf, shelf spacing with 24" clearance, and shelves designed to support 100-250 lbs.
The solicitation is a total small business set-aside with a size standard of 500 employees, targeting the NAICS code 337215. The original quote submission deadline of 1:00 PM CDT on 01 July 2025 has been extended to 1:00 PM CDT on 03 July 2025. No funds are currently available, and the government reserves the right to cancel the solicitation. Vendors are advised that while an 18-wheel semi-truck can deliver within 30 feet of the room, there is no loading dock, and coordination would be required for forklift assistance. Interested vendors can contact Contract Specialist SrA Hector S. Sanchez de Jesus at (318) 456-4011 or hector.sanchez_de_jesus@us.af.mil for further information.

SUBJECT: Amendment 01, FA460825QC113, Mobile Shelving Unit
1. The purpose of issuing Amendment 01 is to provide supplemental information in the form of a Question and Answers document. The following questions were submitted to 2 CONS by the deadline of 1:00 PM CDT on 25 June 2025 and the answers to each are highlighted below in red:
Question 1: SOW calls for “six (6) Revolving Shelves” are you want to put rotary file cabinets on the carriage? If so, we need more information on file cabinets.
Answer 1: No, shelves are for storage space for office supplies, equipment, and various personal protective clothing. The design is to be able to store items on the shelf, walk out and move the carriage to access different carriages.
Question 2: The supplied drawing shows 7 carriages not six (6).
Answer 2: Maximum the number of carriages within the space provided, and account for the required 4’ space needed to walk in and utilize shelves.
Question 3: If you want all shelving, is it back-to-back shelving or full depth? If the shelving is bac to back do want backs on the shelving?
Answer 3: Shelves need to be full depth to enable storage of boxes and tub holding supplies.
Question 4: Is the shelving clip type, or L&T. clip is less expensive than L&T. What is going to be stored on the shelving?
Answer 4: No, shelves are for storage space for office supplies such as boxes of printing paper, equipment, and various personal protective clothing.
Question 5: Do you want file dividers, how many per opening?
Answer 5: Not applicable, shelves are for storage space for office supplies such as boxes of printing paper, equipment, and various personal protective clothing.
Question 6: The SOW also calls out drawers. Locking Drawers: Drawers must be equipped with locking handles to prevent inadvertent opening during carriage movement, ensuring the safety of personnel and stored items.
o Where do you want drawers?
o How many drawers?
o Height of the drawers?
Answer 6: Stationary shelf located by door (Red Rectangle in drawing), Drawer depth should be
18-24in, total of 4 drawers located on bottom half of stationary shelf. Drawer width 48in.
Question 7: Is there a loading dock or forklift on site for the purpose of off-loading?
Answer 7: No loading dock at the building but with coordination, forklift can be made available.
Additionally, 18-wheel semi-trucks can deliver within 30ft of room.
Question 8: Is there a dumpster on site for the cardboard, plastic & pallet material?
Answer 8: Yes, dumpsters are available for cardboard & plastic. Pallet’s disposal is across the main base.
Question 9: Identify which revolving shelves (or carriages) require drawers and which stationary units require drawers? Are the stationaries supposed to have one 8'W shelving section as opposed to two 48"W shelving sections?
Answer 9: Stationary shelf located by door is the only one requiring drawers (Red Rectangle in drawing). Stationary shelves should be two 48” W Shelving sections.
Question 10: Our surface mount rail is made of steel in addition to aluminum ramps to avoid tripping. They are ADA compliant and seismically approved, is this acceptable rather than using a grouted steel rail?
Answer 10: Yes, this is acceptable.
Question 11: The Salient Characteristics page states 6 movable carriages, but the drawing on another attachment shows 7 movable carriages. Which should it be?
Answer 11: Maximum the number of carriages within the space provided, and accounting for the required space needed to walk in and utilize shelves.
Question 12: The drawing also shows 48”W units side by side, but the specs and other drawing details just state 96”W units. If we are using 48”W units in some areas, where are they located?
Answer 12: Rolling carriage shelving can be either two 48” or one 96” in length, shelf spacing/clearance optimize with design of having 3 shelves with minimum of 1 shelf at 24” clearance. If possible 2 shelves with 24” clearance. Shelves need to be designed to support a minimum of 100lbs up to 250lbs.
Question 13: What shelf spacing/clearances do they need? The drawing will not work as shown as they didn’t account for thickness of shelves/shelf supports.
Answer 13: Shelf spacing/clearance optimize with design of having 3 shelves with minimum of
1 shelf at 24” clearance. If possible 2 shelves with 24” clearance.
Question 14: The specs also mention drawers somewhere in there, but I don’t know if they are truly needed and if they are, are there additional details for how many, what size, etc.?
Answer 14: Stationary shelf located by door (Red Rectangle in drawing), drawer depth should be
18-24in, total of 4 drawers located on bottom half of stationary shelves. Drawer width 48in.

Answer 15: End Caps will be stationary shelving units 18” deep shelves with backing
Question 16: Will the wide-span shelving require closed sides and backs?
Answer 16: Shelving will require backing and only need sides at the end of the section while on carriage similar to your standard bookcase open front with a back and sides.
Question 17: Should the shelving units on the carriages be installed back-to-back (18" and 18" individually adjustable instead of a full 36" single shelf etc) with shared back panels?
Answer 17: Full 36” single shelf, shelving units on carriages can be back-to-back with shared back panel.

Answer 20: The flooring to the room currently has ceramic tiles where this will be going.
Question 21: Can you confirm ceiling height and if sprinkled what is the sprinkler height?
Answer 21: No sprinkler system located in room or building. Ceiling height is 92.25”
Question 22: Can you confirm the syncho drive requirement. That is not needed for a system that is only 8' long.
Answer 22: Not sure what syncho drive is, but each carriage has a maximum length of 8’ due to size of the room. Does not seem like the syncho drive is required.
Question 23: Can you confirm that the colors of evergreen and yellow are required or would you rather choose from manufacturer standards (lower cost)?
Answer 23: Manufacturer standards.
