About this file
The document is a Statement of Work (SOW) for a Mobile Shelving System procurement for the 702 Maintenance Squadron (MXS) at Barksdale Air Force Base. The project requires a Mechanical Assist High Density Movable Shelving System to address current storage limitations, improve space utilization, and enhance security measures. The system specifications include two stationary end caps and six revolving shelving units, with precise dimensions of 72" H x 36" D x 96" W, designed to fit within a 29'6" x 13' floor area and incorporate a 4' 2 3/8" aisle width.
Key technical requirements include a minimum load capacity of 1,000 lbs per carriage foot, locking drawers, a specific color scheme (glossy evergreen rails, glossy yellow shelves and drawers), uni-frame welded carriage construction, and a synchronous drive mechanism. The system must comply with fire code regulations (DAFMAN 91-203) and Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) standards. Additional requirements cover installation services, personnel identification, site cleanup, and a limited lifetime warranty. The procurement is a small business set-aside with the NAICS code 337215, and quotes are due by 1:00 PM CDT on 01 July 2025.

1. General: This document outlines the requirements for providing the 702 MXS with a new Mechanical Assist High Density Movable Shelving System to maximize storage capabilities and security measures. The current storage area is inadequate and presents potential safety hazards and risk of lost tooling due to inefficient space utilization.
2. Scope: The contractor shall provide the design, materials, equipment, and labor required to deliver and install a complete, fully operational Mechanical Assist High Density Movable Shelving System as specified below. This includes, but is not limited to, the following services:
o Equipment Receiving and Inspection: Receive all equipment and thoroughly inspect all components upon arrival. Document and file any damage claims with the carrier and promptly re-order damaged components to ensure timely project completion.
o Material Handling: Unload all materials from delivery trucks and transport them to the designated installation area within the 702 MXS.
o System Installation: Install the shelving system according to factory specifications and the agreed-upon layout plan. Ensure all components are properly assembled and aligned.
o Site Cleanup: Maintain a clean and organized work area throughout the installation process. Upon completion, remove all debris, packaging materials, and excess materials, returning the area to its original condition.
o Parts Management: Order and expedite delivery of any missing or damaged parts identified during installation.
o User Orientation: Provide comprehensive user orientation to designated 702 MXS personnel on all aspects of the equipment's operation, safety features, and maintenance procedures.
o Turnkey Delivery: Unit delivery to include freight, inside delivery, installation, and removal of freight material following successful install.
3. Workmanship: All workmanship shall adhere to standard industry best practices and comply with all applicable building codes and safety regulations, including fire codes and accessibility standards. The installation shall be performed by qualified and experienced technicians.

8. Minimum Salient Characteristics:
o Floor Area: The system must be designed to fit within the available floor area of 29’6” x 13’ (refer to attached floor plan).
o Shelving Configuration:
Stationary Shelving: Two (2) stationary end caps (72" H x 18" D x 96” W) will anchor the system, providing stability and a finished appearance.
Mobile Shelving: Six (6) revolving shelving units (72" H x 36" D x 96” W) will maximize storage capacity within the available space. Each unit is 36" wide.
Aisle Space: The design incorporates a 4' 2 3/8" (50.375") aisle width, ensuring sufficient space for comfortable and safe access to stored materials.
o Single Entry: The system shall feature single entry, with end panels and handles on both ends of the mobile units for convenient access from either side.
o Enclosed Design: The system shall have fully enclosed sides and backs, along with smooth steel decking, to prevent items from falling and to enhance safety.
FA460825QC113
o Locking Drawers: Drawers must be equipped with locking handles to prevent inadvertent opening during carriage movement, ensuring the safety of personnel and stored items.
o Load Capacity: Carriages shall have a minimum load rating of 1,000 lbs. per carriage foot to accommodate heavy tooling and equipment.
o Color Scheme: Rails will be glossy evergreen, and shelves and drawers will be glossy yellow for easy identification and visual organization.
o Rail Construction: Rails shall be constructed of one-piece structural or welded steel with tongue & groove on overlapped and bolted rail splice joints.
Rails must be set in a full grout bed, completely filling all voids for the entire length of the rails, to provide a stable and level foundation.
o Wheel Channel Assembly: Each wheel channel assembly shall incorporate roller-type bearings with opposing in-rail anti-tip assemblies to prevent tipping and ensure smooth, reliable operation.
