About this file
This document is a Questions and Answers (Q&A) file for an Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) Trailer procurement. The document details specific requirements for a specialized trailer, including a gooseneck-style 48' trailer with integrated systems for a nuclear weapons accident response team. Key specifications include three separate rooms, a workspace with 6 co-located workstations in a slide-out area, an 8.5' interior height, generator integration, water tank capacities (100 gallons fresh, 45 gallons grey, 42 gallons black), and a 2-foot attic space in the trailer's neck for storing Level A and B suits.
Technical requirements specify a 20-40KW generator, a 350 PSI air compressor with one line usable in the garage area and up to 20 feet outside, UTV storage with 14' minimum length, and a sound system preferred throughout the trailer and potentially exterior. The trailer is intended to support EOD teams during potential multi-day nuclear weapons accident responses, with provisions for equipment storage, workspaces, and extended operational capabilities. The procurement appears to be for a highly specialized mobile support unit designed for complex emergency response scenarios.

EOD Trailer Q&A
1. Do you have a floor plan drawing or hand drawn sketch of the floor plan layout you are looking for? If not, can you describe the layout you want in more detail from front to back so we can create a drawing.
A rough layout/floor plan has been attached to the solicitation on SAM.gov.
2. The bid requires a minimum of 40KW generator, but I do not see anything in this trailer that would require more than 15KW. Are you power something other than what is listed in the requirements?
The 40KW would be for any of our follow on equipment we would need to bring with us and run off the trailers power but I think we could get away with 20KW as a minimum.
3. Are you looking for a gooseneck or a semi-trailer-based solution? i.e. What would be pulling the trailer?
Gooseneck is the preferred trailer; the layout provided in the solicitation is also based off a gooseneck.
4. The difference between 48’ and 53’ aren’t much space wise, it boils down to the tow vehicle availability.
48’ is fine. The layout provided is also based off of 48’.
5. What vehicle will be towing this trailer? Medium duty truck like a F-650, International/Freightliner or a Semi Truck?
The vehicle will be a medium duty truck such as a F-650.
6. What is the purpose for such a large generator?
we have large variety of equipment we take with us to be used. I cannot name every piece of equipment and its power output.
7. What are the full power requirements? Will you be connecting 230v or 240v or higher equipment? How many phases, single or 3 phase?
I don’t have a number for full power requirements. 240v would be the highest. I’m not sure how many phases, that is outside my area of expertise.
8. How large do you need the Fresh, Grey and Black tanks?
Fresh water tank 100 Gallons, grey tank 45 gallons, black tank 42 gallons.
9. Is the sound system dedicated to one or more rooms? Please list if more than one room. Is it required for exterior too?
It would be preferred to have the sound system through the whole trailer and also preferred to have it exterior as well but that is not a requirement.
10. How many separate rooms are you looking for? The salient characteristics gives some description, but we are interested in knowing how you want this all separated out.
We are looking for three rooms, please refer to the layout that was provided.
11. Slide out desk – are you looking for a slide out room for the workstations or just the desk to flip up or down from the walls? If you want full slide outs, are you looking for 2 slide outs, one for each side that will house only the workstations?
Please refer to the layout that was provided. We are looking for at least one slide out to house the workstation with the desks.
12. Is the generator to be integrated into the trailer or separate?
Generator needs to be integrated into the trailer.
13. the interior has 6 work stations and then list slide out desk in the work space. Can you clarify if the slide-out is with a single desk or are there 6 work locations that all side out.
The 6 work stations will all be co located within the slide out for the workspace.
14. How much fuel storage is required?
In regards to the fuel capacity. In the event of a Nuclear Weapons Accident response the EOD team on scene may be on scene for days at a time depending on the situation. So I would say if 3-5 days of fuel is possible
15. Can you confirm that the attic space depicted is desired over the garage area and not in the neck of the trailer? if attic is over garage area, is the intent to have the sleeping area in the neck of the trailer? Outside of size needed to fit the compressor, condenser, and generator is there a minimum height needed for storage in the attic area?
The placement of the attic and sleeping area in the neck made the most sense to us, so yes. As for minimum height I would say 2 feet. It will be used to store our Level A and B suits.
16. Can you confirm that ‘Air Discharge’ is referencing the Mini split heads?
Yes on the air discharge.
17. Can you confirm the minimum clearance needed for the UTVs you will be storing in the trailer? (We recognize the 8.5’ interior height is likely adequate)
For UTV clearance the 8.5’ height is adequate and the minimum length is 14’.
18. What is the desired size of the air compressor? How many lines do you need from the compressor? Where do you want the lines to be accessible from? Just the garage area? Any exterior need?
Desired size of air compressor is 350psi. One line is fine for the compressor and as long as we can use it in the garage area and up to 20 ft outside out of the garage door.
