About this file

This is a Questions and Answers document for Air Force contract FA448626Q0004, issued in May 2026, regarding maintenance and inspection services for the MAFT (Mobile Air Force Trainer) system.

The contract represents a re-acquisition of existing services previously performed under contract FA448622P0002. Service reports, inspection reports, and repair history documentation are available to interested vendors upon direct email request to the Contracting Points of Contact. The Government will provide operator manuals for the MAFT, generator, and air compressor prior to contractor arrival to ensure proper tools and equipment are available for inspections. The MAFT training equipment has been determined to be stationary and no longer mobile, therefore DOT road worthiness inspections are not required. The Butane Tank trailer hydrostatic testing and safety valve checks are not included in this contract scope and will be addressed under separate work statement. The Government does not provide a predetermined list of spare parts; instead, contractors are expected to maintain tools, metal piping, and supplies on-site following their initial inspection to enable prompt maintenance and minor repairs while minimizing equipment downtime between scheduled inspections.

FA448626Q0004 – MAFT

Questions and Answers (Q&A) – May 2026

1- “We would like to know if this a brand new contract OR if there is (was) an incumbent performing these services. If not brand new, could you please the current/ previous contract number?”

Answer: This is a re-acquisition of an existing contract. The previous contract number was FA448622P0002.

2- “With respect to the subject solicitation, we respectfully request a copy of the most recent service report for the MA-500 and O-100 trainers that are to be inspected.”

Answer: To obtain a copy of the most recent service and inspection reports, interested vendors must submit a request directly via email to the Contracting Points of Contact (POCs): tania.cardoso.2.pt@us.af.mil and 65conf.lgc.all@us.af.mil. These documents will be provided directly to interested parties and will not be posted publicly to SAM.gov.

3- “Will previous inspection reports and repairs be made available?”

Answer: Yes. Details regarding prior repairs are included within the historical inspection/service reports. Please refer to the Government Response to Question 2 for instructions on how to request copies of these documents via email.

4- “Will all user manual to include MAFT, generator and air compressor be made available prior to inspection to ensure all specialized tools are brought for the inspection?”

Answer: The Government will provide all operator manuals for the MAFT, generator, and air compressor. These manuals can be issued to the contractor prior to arrival to ensure that the proper tools are available for inspection.

5- “Will the trailer require a DOT- inspection for road worthiness?”

Answer: Regarding the MAFT training, it has been determined that it is no longer mobile.

Regarding the Butane Tank trailer, this was not requested in this contract. The Government is currently looking at having the Butane Tank Hydrostatically tested and safety valves checked on a separate work statement.

6- “Will a list of stored extra parts be made available prior to inspection?”

Answer: The Government does not provide a pre-determined list of extra parts for the contractor to have on site. After the contractor performs the initial inspection, they may determine which tools and parts to maintain on site for follow-on work. The current contractor kept several tools, metal piping, and supplies available to allow prompt maintenance and minor repairs. Under this contract, the awarded contractor is expected to adopt a similar approach to minimize MAFT downtime between inspections.
