About this file

This Statement of Work details requirements for refurbishing a 13' tall Ultimate Weapon Statue weighing 3000-4000 lbs at Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst. The statue, constructed in 1958 of automotive sculpt metal (Bondo), requires removal from its pedestal, transport to a certified conservation studio, and extensive restoration work including chemical removal of multiple paint layers, repair of fractures and damage, stabilization of corrosion, and application of new polyurethane paint with bronze mica powder finish.

The project includes three main components: 1) careful removal and transport of the statue while preserving surrounding mortared stones, 2) comprehensive refurbishment including interior repairs identified through bore scope inspection and restoration of the rain gutter system, and 3) repair of the 6'H x 7'W pedestal structure including crack repairs and replacement of surrounding bushes. The work must be completed within 120 days of project start, requires specialized insurance coverage for historic items, and must follow AIC Guidelines with full photo documentation. The contractor must coordinate with base personnel Marcus Hughes or Gene Killian and obtain necessary base access credentials through the Pass and Registration building.
