Questions and Answers
1. Can surface mount EMT conduit be utilized inside the 13 facilities due to the minimal space available to work in the attic?
I see no issue on this suggestion. Concurred.
2. The LRAFB Electrical design Guide does not allow for Class B circuits and the UFC’s do allow for Class B circuits. Due to the nature and size of the 13 facilities, can class B wiring, for both SLC and NAC circuits, be utilized for this project?
Class B is acceptable for this project. It is also cheaper.
3. Is the existing HVAC system, without any alterations, replacement or repairs, in bldg. 1401 adequate to control the conditioning of the area where the Main Fire Alarm equipment is to be installed?
This should work. However, the door to the small rear room would need to be removed, or louvers added to allow the conditioned air to reach that space.
4. What is the bid date and time?
Quotes are due on Friday, 27 September 2024 at 10:00am CDT.
5. PWS 3.2.1: this paragraph states ‘Panel, BT-X Transceiver, ………Select material from one manufacturer – FCI/Monaco, where possible, and not a combination of manufacturers, for any classification of materials.’ FCI is a Honeywell manufactured fire alarm system.
Monaco is their own manufacturer. FCI/Monaco is a combination of manufacturers (FCI fire alarm with Monaco BT-XF Transceiver). Permission to bid our combination of product Notifier and Monaco BT-XF Transceiver which has been the case for many installations at the LRAFB for many years.
I see no issue on this suggestion. Concurred.
6. The Monaco BT-XF reports to the fire department by Zones. We recommend, for a very small facility, that each building (13) report a general alarm and carbon monoxide alarm. Also, another single zone for general trouble on the system which covers all buildings. Please clarify acceptability of these zone identifications. If this zone configuration is not acceptable, please give a recommendation for an acceptable zone configuration.
A limited zone configuration is acceptable so long as we transmit a general alarm, and carbon monoxide as separate zones.
