About this file

This memorandum details salient characteristics for a vertical storage lift parts management system required by the 97th Aircraft Maintenance Squadron. The document outlines ten critical specifications for the vertical parts storage system, including fully automated inventory tracking, minimal horizontal footprint (not exceeding 80.26 ft²), real-time inventory tracking, intuitive human-machine interface, 1,100-pound tray payload capacity, and stackable modules supporting a minimum of 40 trays. The system must accommodate a maximum ceiling height of 216.54 inches and feature secure access with user-specific PIN codes.

Key technical requirements emphasize operational efficiency, inventory security, and user safety, with specific design elements mandating customizable user access levels, ergonomic considerations to minimize lifting injuries, and adaptable configuration capabilities. The current system is deemed insufficient due to limited capability and recurring breakdowns, driving the need for a more advanced vertical storage solution that can optimize floor space, ensure accurate inventory management, and provide robust operational performance for the AGE (Aerospace Ground Equipment) shop.

MEMORANDUM FOR RECORD

FROM: 97AMW/MXA

SUBJECT: Vertical Storage Lift – Salient Characteristics

1. The 97th Aircraft Maintenance Squadron requires the acquisition of a vertical lift parts management system. The AGE shop has a critical need to replace the current vertical parts storage system. The existing system has proven insufficient in meeting our operational demands, primarily due to its limited capability and a recurring pattern of breakdowns.

Below are the essential characteristics that the system must possess:

Specifications:

1. Provide fully automated inventory tracking, item retrieval, and tray movement to streamline operations and eliminate manual handling errors.

2. Occupy a minimal horizontal footprint not exceeding 80.26 ft², a maximum of 217 inches in height, minimum 114.84 inches in width, minimum 100.62 inches in depth to optimize floor space.

3. Feature a self-managing storage and inventory location system with real-time automated tracking to ensure accurate and up-to-date inventory data.

4. Include an intuitive human-machine interface for easy operation, supporting inventory retrieval and individual user logins for at least two distinct users to enable secure and personalized access.

5. Support a tray payload capacity of 1,100 pounds to accommodate heavy inventory items.

6. Offer adjustable configuration to adapt to changing storage requirements, with minimal data reconfiguration needed. Once configured, the system must remain operational until new parts are required, and users must have the ability to modify data points at no additional cost.

7. Incorporate stackable modules to maximize vertical space utilization, accommodating a maximum ceiling height of 216.54 inches and supporting a minimum of 40 trays for efficient storage.

8. Provide an internal storage bay with user-specific PIN codes to ensure inventory security and prevent unauthorized access.

9. Feature a secure human interface with customizable access levels for each user to maintain operational control and accountability.

10. Ensure safe and ergonomic operation to minimize lifting injuries, incorporating design elements that prioritize user safety and compliance with ergonomic standards.
