AMBULANCE SERVICE AT SCOTT AFB IL

SOLICITATION # FA4407-09-R-0002

QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS OF

10 MARCH 2009

Question # 1. Where is the nearest hospital and how far are the transports? Time & Distance.

Answer: St. Elizabeth’s Hospital located at 211 S. 3rd Street, Belleville, IL 62220 is the nearest hospital. Per an internet mapping site, St. Elizabeth’s Hospital is an estimated 17 minutes and an estimated 8.47 miles from Scott AFB, IL at posted speed limits. The site points out that there are approximately 1.5 miles from the starting location of the query and the beginning of the driving directions as the starting location is outside of the gates of the base.

Question # 2. Will the diesel exhaust filter be provided under the contract?

Answer: No. The 3 paragraphs below will replace the 4 paragraphs (3.3.1 through 3.3.4) in the current PWS in Section 3, Government-Furnished Property and Services in Amendment that will follow the posting of these questions to the FEDBIZOPPS website.

3.3.1. The contractor must provide their own ambulance mounted exhaust filter unit if the ambulance is to be parked inside the SAFB Fire Station while the engine is running. The contractor will be responsible for tracking filter hours and replacing filters, at their own expense, immediately when needed. The contractor will ensure the filter unit remains in service. If the operation of the filter unit is ever in doubt, the ambulance will be removed from the station.

3.3.2. The ambulance mounted exhaust filter unit and purchased filters must be approved by the Chief, Fire Emergency Services prior to being parked within the station.

3.3.3 The contractor will keep the Chief, Fire Emergency Services advised of any issues involving operation of the ambulance as it applies to the filter unit(s).

The current PWS paragraph 3.3.5 is unaffected other than being renumbered to 3.3.4.
