About this file

This is a Questions and Answers document (Amendment 0002) for the 908th Electric Munitions Gate solicitation (FA330026R0035) issued by the Department of the Air Force Air Education and Training Command. The document clarifies specifications for an electric gate system required at two locations: one 21-foot by 7-foot gate north of Building 1286 and one 25-foot by 7-foot gate north of Buildings 1281 and 1282. Both gates are to be constructed of metal chain-link with round metal frames and equipped with motors for automated opening and closing.

Key clarifications include: the gates are single sliding gates (not swing gates) rather than bi-parting gates, contrary to earlier assumptions; each gate location requires two keypads mounted on the driver's side, but only one functioning keypad is needed to open the gate via code entry; there are no brand or manufacturer restrictions for the gate operators, and commercial-grade operators meeting project requirements are acceptable; the keypad system is standalone and does not require integration with an existing access control system, with gooseneck pedestal mounting being acceptable but not mandatory; and the gate operators must function with automatic opening and closing capabilities to allow munitions drivers to open and close the gates while remaining in their vehicles for enhanced security. All electrical installations must be completed by certified electricians in accordance with NFPA 70.

AMENDMENT 0002:

ADDED QUESTION 5 AND ITS ANSWER

Solicitation Questions & Answers 908th Electric Munitions Gate 21 September 2026

1. QUESTION: Gate Operators / Gate Configuration The scope mentions one gate at each location:

· One (1) 21 ft x 7 ft gate

· One (1) 25 ft x 7 ft gate However, it also mentions two gate operators for each gate.

Could you please clarify:

· Are the gates designed as bi-parting gates requiring two operators per gate?

· Or is one operator intended as a spare/replacement unit for future use?

· If the gates are bi-parting, does the requirement include:

· Two (2) 21 ft x 7 ft gate sections creating a 21 ft opening, and

· Two (2) 25 ft x 7 ft gate sections creating a 25 ft opening?

ANSWER: Yes, the gates are bi-parting and require two (2) operators (key pads) per gate, four (4) total (one outside and one inside the gate; both on the driver’s side of the driveway) operating much like a garage door opener (one button opens one gate, the other button opens the other gate). The total distance of the openings are one (1) opening of 21 ft x 7 ft and one (1) opening of 25 ft x 7 ft.

2. QUESTION: Gate Operator Brand/Model Requirements Are there any specific requirements or approved manufacturers/models for the gate operators?

If there is no required brand, please confirm whether equivalent commercial gate operators meeting the project requirements will be acceptable.

ANSWER: There are no required brand, manufacturer, or model restrictions. Commercial gate operators are sufficient if they meet the requirement.

3. QUESTION: Keypad / Access Control Requirements The scope mentions a keypad for each gate.

Could you please clarify:

Is the keypad intended to be a standalone keypad access system, or must it integrate with an existing base access control system?

Is the keypad required to be mounted on a gooseneck pedestal, or is another mounting configuration acceptable?

ANSWER: It will be a standalone keypad access system. Gooseneck pedestal would be sufficient, but other options are acceptable as well.

4. QUESTION: Each gate locations mentions one gate (1-21'x 7', 1- 25' x 7'), but it has two operators for each gate. Why two gate operators? Are the gates bi-parting or is one operator just a spare operator for stock. If they are bi-parting is it two 21'x 7' gates and two 25'7' gates or is it two gates for a 21' opening and two gates for a 25' opening?

ANSWER: The keypads; there will be one keypad on each side of each gate on the driver’s side, but either keypad should open the gate after the correct code is typed in. There will not be someone on each side of the gate typing in codes. The gates are currently bi-parting, the distance of the opening for each gate respectively is 21’x7’ and 25’x7’. As the gates currently stand, there are two gates covering each of these openings.

5. QUESTION: Can you clarify that the gates are suppose to be cantilever "sliding" gates single or double? Or are they suppose to remain double swing gates?

ANSWER: Both gates need to be single sliding gates. Key pads on each side on the drivers side. Only one key pad with the correct code to open the gate.

IE: Driver driving into the MSA. Enters 123 on key pad. Gate opens. Driver drives in. Gate automatically closes. When he is ready to leave, he drives up to the gate, enters 123 on the key pad, gate opens, driver drives out, gate automatically closes.
