About this file

This is a Request for Information (RFI) file containing contractor questions and government responses regarding a door access control system installation project at Columbus Air Force Base (CAFB). The RFI addresses three installation areas in Building 724 of the 14th Flying Training Wing, with specifications for two 6-foot by 7-foot double doors (Areas 1 and 2) and one 3-foot by 7-foot door (Area 3). The government clarified that work will involve only modification or replacement of opening and locking hardware as necessary, and confirmed that Area 3's door will require modification to support Common Access Card (CAC) reader functionality without additional STC rating or ICD compliance requirements. The government provided Appendix A containing photos and diagrams of all three door locations and a layout of the work area to support contractor planning.

The parent solicitation (FA302226Q0331) requires contractors to furnish labor, materials, equipment, and services to install three new physical access control systems (PACS), cameras, and monitors enabling 24-hour authorized personnel access via CAC or approved credentials at CAFB. A site visit was scheduled for August 31, 2026, at 9:00 AM CST with registration deadline of August 27, 2026. All contractor personnel must complete CUI training, submit a signed acknowledgment, and provide Entry Authorization Listing documentation to access controlled drawings and specifications through SAM.gov. Proposals will be submitted electronically, and valid REAL ID-compliant photo identification is required for base access.

Text version

1. Could you provide pictures and measurements of the 3 requested areas the doors will be installed? This is in case I or my team cannot attend the site visit on the 31st to see it in person. We're local to the Mississippi Gulf Coast, and my team member is currently completing a job at Keesler.

0. The intention is only to modify or change the opening and locking hardware as necessary. I have attached Appendix A: Photos and Diagrams as a document. The double doors at Areas 1 and 2 are 6ft x 7ft and Area 3 is a 3ft x 7ft door.

1. Additionally, can you provide the existing local pathways at each door location?

1. I do not understand what is being asked for. I have attached a diagram of the “Layout of Work Area” as part of Appendix A: Photos and Diagrams.

1. For Area 3's door, do you require a STC rating or ICD compliancy for that door? Or will it required to be hooked to a vindicator system?

2. The intention is only to modify or change the opening and locking hardware as necessary to allow access via CAC card.
