About this file
This Request for Information (RFI) document addresses a vehicle storage shed project at a military installation, providing clarifications on various technical and procedural aspects. Key points include confirmation that a superintendent cannot serve as both safety manager and QAQC lead, clarification that the base will remove an existing awning prior to construction, and details about the shed's specifications. The RFI resolved questions about roof design, indicating the new shed will have a slight-slope roof to facilitate drainage, and confirmed that gutters will not be included after further site evaluation. The document also notes that the government does not have geotechnical or structural drawings for the existing example structure, which may impact contractor planning.
The associated federal contract opportunity (Solicitation FA302225R0007) is for installing a metal vehicle storage shed, specifically to protect a line truck from inclement weather. The project requires a shed with a minimum 15'-0" clear height, 36'-0" depth, and approximately 180'-0" length. A mandatory site visit is scheduled for 20 May 2025, with registration required by 15 May 2025. The procurement is valued between $100,000 and $250,000, and proposals will be submitted electronically through the Department of the Air Force Air Education and Training Command. Contractors must complete Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI) training and obtain access to locked documents via SAM.gov to proceed with the solicitation.

RFI’s For B375- Install Vehicle Storage Shed
1. In executing this project, can one superintendent fulfill the supervision, safety, and QAQC roles?
Superintendent can be the safety, supervisor, but not the QAQC.
1. Are contractors required to issue a contract specific QA/QC Plan?
Please review Section 5.1 in the statement of work.
1. Are contractors required to issue a contract specific Safety Plan?
Please review Section 6.1 in the statement of work.
1. Is this project tax exempt?
No taxes will be charge to the government.
1. Will the contractor have to remove the existing shed covering a portion of the Vehicle Storage or will the base remove it?
Bullet 2.3.2 of the SOW states that “B377’s existing awning will be removed prior to project construction for the new shed to be installed.” This work will be removed by the Base.
1. It was stated during the project site walk that gutters will be added to the scope of work. If so, the SOW states a flat roof. Would CAFB prefer to also make the roof sloped to one side to accommodate the gutter being on one side? Please advise.
Gutters were included in the SOW dated 05 FEBURARY 2025. The site visit determined there are no gutters located on the existing example structure; therefore, gutters are not to be included on the new shed. The SOW has been updated to reflect this change. Additionally, the SOW has been updated to clarify flat-roof. The new shed shall have a slight-slope roof to facilitate drainage and prevent water accumulation.
1. Could CAFB provide a geotech report for any of the buildings in the near vicinity of the site for sizing column footings to meet area wind resistance and uplift for the shed?
CAFB does not have Geotech reports for any of the buildings in the near vicinity of the site.
1. Please provide structural and foundation drawings of the existing example structure.
CAFB does not have structural and foundation drawings of the existing example structure.
