About this file

This document is a Questions and Answers (Q&A) file for a hoist and trolley installation project at 12 MXG Hanger 4, associated with a federal solicitation for JBSA Randolph. The Q&A addresses several technical specifications and installation requirements, including power options, electrical circuitry, weight testing, lead paint removal, and power supply routing. Key details include: the government prefers using existing on-site power options but will accept alternatives if needed; hoists should have individual circuits; a separate line item will be issued for weight testing; lead paint removal is only required if deemed necessary for installation; a stop must be installed at the 20-foot section end to prevent hoist trolley overage; and the contractor is responsible for installing power cord reels and supplying power from breaker panels, with existing conduit supports permitted if they do not disrupt current usage or appear unsightly.

No. An individual circuit is preferred.

Is the government going issues a separate line item for weight testing?

Yes the Government will issue a separate line item for weight testing what is the government wanting the lead paint to be removed from the monorails or only if deemed necessary?

Only if deemed necessary for installation. If paint is removed abatement will be required.

Regarding the 20-foot section at each end: Should a stop be installed at the end of the 20 ft to prevent the hoist trolley from exceeding that limit?

Yes, please install a stop.

To clarify, the contractor will install the in-line retractable power cord reel or tag line to provide power to the hoist.

Will the site be responsible for supplying power from the breaker panels to the hoist area?

Yes, contractor will install the in-line retractable power cord reel or tag line to the hoist. Yes, power will need to be supplied to the hoist from the breaker by the contractor.
