About this file

The document contains Salient Characteristics (Amendment 2) for a commercial cantilever hip roof style shade structure replacement. The specifications detail precise structural requirements, including cold-formed structural steel conforming to ASTM A-500 and ASTM-A36 standards, with specific dimensions for columns (6" x 6" x 1/3" A500 Gr B Tubing), beams (4" x 6" x 3/16" A500 Gr B Tubing), and upper structure components. The structure requires powder-coated or industrial-coated steel with excellent chemical, corrosion, and abrasion resistance, complying with UL 1332 standards.

Additional technical requirements include horizontal flange-to-flange connections with 10" x 30" x ½" plates, gusset connections using 5/8" bolts, nuts, lock washers, and flat washers, and columns to be embedded in reinforced concrete. All field connections must be bolted per ASTM structural specifications, with no field welding permitted. The aesthetic specification mandates a maroon canopy with a beige frame. The accompanying technical drawing provides a detailed cross-section of the column footing, showing a 5'-0" tall structure with a 1'-6" wide prefabricated concrete block base and specific reinforcement details.
