About this file

This is a Salient Characteristics Sheet for the procurement of two new rotary screw air compressors to replace failing equipment in an aircraft structural maintenance shop. The government is seeking two 30-horsepower, continuous-duty rotary screw air compressors capable of delivering a minimum of 125 CFM at 125 PSIG. The units must be tank-mounted with dimensions not exceeding 75" L x 40" W x 70" H, powered by 230/460V 3-Phase industrial power, and must meet or exceed the performance output and specifications of existing air compressors.

The essential requirements include a microprocessor-based controller for monitoring and managing load/unload cycles, an integrated air-aftercooler for moisture removal and air quality protection, and operation at approximately 68 dBA to minimize noise in the maintenance shop. The compressors must be rated for 100% continuous duty to operate reliably in a high-demand, non-climate-controlled environment without overheating. A minimum 5-year warranty covering major components (airend, motor, and separator tank) with readily available technical support and parts is mandatory. Professional installation and operational verification upon delivery are required. The compressors will support critical maintenance tasks including sandblasting, painting, sanding, and operation of pneumatic hand tools, with the goal of eliminating work stoppages and improving operational efficiency to reduce aircraft downtime.

Salient Characteristics Sheet ch1

Physical Characteristics

• Quantity: Two (2) new rotary screw air compressors Meeting or exceeding existing air compressors performance output and specifications

• Power Supply: 230/460V 3-Phase industrial power

• Configuration: Tank-mounted to ensure a ready supply of compressed air and reduce cycle frequency.

• Footprint: Approximate dimensions should not exceed 75" L x 40" W x 70" H to fit within the existing equipment space.

Essential Characteristics

• Performance: Must be a 30-horsepower, continuous-duty rotary screw air compressor.

• Air Delivery: Capable of delivering a minimum of 125 CFM at 125 PSIG to power multiple high-demand pneumatic tools simultaneously.

• Duty Cycle: Must be rated for 100% continuous duty to operate reliably without overheating in a high-demand, non-climate-controlled environment.

• Control System: Equipped with a microprocessor-based controller for monitoring operating parameters, managing load/unload cycles, and providing service alerts.

• Air Quality: Must include an integrated air-aftercooler to cool the compressed air and remove excess moisture, protecting air tools and ensuring high-quality finishes in applications like painting.

• Low Noise Level: Must operate at a low dBA rating (approximately 68 dBA) to reduce noise levels within the maintenance shop.

• Support & Warranty: Must include a minimum 5-year warranty covering major components, including the airend, motor, and separator tank, with readily available technical support and parts.

• Installation: Professional installation and operational verification are required to ensure the system is fully functional upon delivery.

Functions to be Performed The two air compressors will provide a reliable and continuous source of high-pressure, high-volume compressed air, which is critical for all pneumatic operations within the aircraft structural maintenance shop. They will replace our current, failing system, which consists of one inoperable unit and one that consistently overheats, causing severe operational delays. This new system is expected to eliminate work stoppages and significantly improve the efficiency of critical maintenance tasks such as sandblasting, painting, sanding, and operating various pneumatic hand tools. The continuous-duty rating and robust cooling will ensure the compressors can meet our high operational tempo without failure. This directly supports our mission by increasing productivity, reducing aircraft downtime, and ensuring maintenance schedules are met consistently and safely.
